Tried searching all over to find info on these, but does anyone know what the -1 on the Carbuncle's cuffs does exactly? I assume it's a type of Fast Cast (minus the reduction of recast time) but just how much? I would hope more than just 1%

Thanks!

So that I could justify going after them instead of the Marduk set for a casting set on SMN. Here's what I am looking at.

18% Fast Cast + Carbunle Cuffs Casting Effect

22% Fast Cast (Marduk's)

The 4% Difference comes between the Marduk difference. If Carby Cuffs are 5% to casting time instead of 1% (All I can assume from casting time -1) then the Carby cuff setup is better. Or it could be the less optimal setup if the Casting Time- is less than the FC equivilent of 4%.

Also, I would rather get Augur's/Anhur/CCuffs over the full Marduk set and it's less gear to carry!

Also the CCuffs setup has the potential of 3 MP/tic refresh from gear while casting (AFv3+2 Horn + Refresh Subligar) where as Marduk's only offer's Refresh/Regen 1/tic. This could be beneficial if not using a refresh atma in Abyssea (Hello RR/AoA/SS Predator Claws!)

I own none of this but it's nice to keep an eye on the optimal sets for things. It is a bit of an overkill but you asked

Carbuncle's Cuffs gives exactly -15% Casting time like the Job Trait Fast Cast II. (I have them)

I highly doubt that^

Its much more likely that they shave off a static second, which from a 7-second casting time would be just above 14%.

I did many tests with the rdm sub and versus a Smn/rdm player to be sure (along with fraps my casts with and without the cuffs), to me it's definitly more 15% than 14% but we are speaking of a difference of 1% or even less lol. The point is, these hands beats any piece of Fast Cast existing.

I'm still going with them being 14.28%, which like you said, doesn't change the point. A simple way to test would be to test them in conjunction with FC. If they still consistantly take off one static second, they should reduce casting time by almost 17%.

BP delay gear works that way, as does song recast and ninjutsu recast gear, it's a pretty safe assumption that it's a static one second reduction.

Not tough, but time consuming. You can duo/trio the whole quest.

Smn + Sam

Ramuh for Ramuh Prime
Ramuh for Leviathan Prime
Leviathan for Ifrit Prime
Ifrit for Shiva Prime
Garuda for Garuda Prime
Garuda for Titan Prime

You need to use the avatar of the same/strongest element or the Prime Avatar will kill it too quickly with his additionnal effect and merit BP.

If you really wanted an optimal Fast Cast set for SMN you would probably use this stuff.

+8% Occasionally quickened spells
18% Fast Cast & the -14~15ish from the cuffs

Nebula pieces are supposedly 0.5% Fast Cast
Moonshade earring with Occ. Quickens Spells +3%
Dalmatica +1 with Occ. Quickens Spells +3% and Fast Cast +6 augments
Jeweled Collar with Fast Cast +3 augment

The Moonshade earring would be a waste of an augment though considering the other options you can select.

Why would you not use Titan against Ramuh and Shiva against Garuda?

I could use them but Chaotic Strike and Predator Claw does much more damage than Mountain Buster or Rush.

They are the opposite of the versions level 60, strong MDB trait and low physical defense. 5/5 Geocrush did 1.5k~ dmg on Ramuh, Chaotic Strike 2k+.
