Any from the family that uses it. The wiki listings are just a sample... make sure it's the right family though, for example you can't learn head butt from mandys, only quads.

I've used a lot of the abyssea version mobs for learning spells. Like a bog body for Animating Wail and the imps in Vunkerl for Frenetic Rip, but I tend to stick to the list. While trying to learn Hysteric Barrage I was teamed up with someone that said they learned it from fighting a lamia not on the list, but I went 0/60 before I finally learned it from a Lamia Dancer which is on the list.

So for things outside abyssea I'd stick to the list, but if there's an abyssea version I would probably try there first for the higher level spells for the ease of killing/number of mobs to kill.

Actually not every mob from the family can teach you the spell. Certain families have certain types of mobs that can only teach the spell. For example: Only specific trolls can teach you Diamondhide (The heavier ones). Only the single bombs can teach you self-destruct, etc.

Bombs and Clusters aren't the same family, aside from self-destruct though, ToAU beastmen are the only exception I know to this rule:

Trolls, Mamool Ja and Lamia are split into two halves as far as learning spells go. Both halves can use both spells, but can only be learnt from one, so go with the hunting grounds or wiki or w/e for those 6 spells especially.

I was thinking about this the other day while fighting turtles at Chukwa spawn.... I think EVERY enemy in the game has a tp move called "headbutt".

They do, I helped someone learn on them. Though our experience says they don't use it frequently.

Opo's don't use magic fruit frequently anywhere, it's a bit of a *** to learn.

You can learn a heap of spells in abyssea, but keep in mind that some mobs simply don't use the spell you need to learn. Off the top of my head, Bog Bodies don't use Spinal Cleave and the dragons in attohwa don't use body slam, there are most probably a lot more examples of this. However, damn near every mob in abyssea is a blu spell family, so there'll still be a lot you can learn, it'll just be a pain in the *** finding out which ones.

That was the hardest spell for me to learn. I was determined to learn spells in the order you can learn them level-wise and skill up along the way, etc. I gingerly cruised along through to body slam with only a few minor hiccups (healing breeze and sound blast each took way too long for someone double-triple the level required to learn with 2-3x the blue magic skill..... sound blast took an hour a day spamming cockatrice for a week) and then learned that Dahaks are still mean at level 90 :< I wasn't helped by the fact that I had only learned spells up to level 50, and had no experience on blu... but man screw those guys lol.

Blu was my first job past level 30, and I pretty much refused to level up until I'd learnt EVERY spell available for the next 5 levels or so, unless I leveled up from trying to learn them. Pretty sure Body Slam was the only one I skipped and came back for once I'd hit 75 lol. I've also helped others get it after the fact, purely because I know how much of a pain in the *** it is to get (same reason I've helped so many randoms with refueling). A whole alliance of level 60ish blus with one nin and one 75 nin and I think a 75 rdm (maybe a whm or brd, can't remember) trying to kill Dahaks is *** hilarious. They're really not so bad with the right group who knows what they're doing, but this was anything but the right group, of course no-one listens to instructions.

id follow The Blue Mage Hunting Grounds like others have said. for a few like thermal pulse do that one in abyssea-attohwa, they spam that ***and do cannonball in mtn. for some reason i never could get those guys to do thermal pulse reliably and never could get cannonball from abyssea often.

Sounds exactly like mind blast at 75 for me, I was the whm x2 and ~9 blus and a pld but most of the time they all spammed headbutt and often just stunned mind blast. Wanted to smack every single one of them at some point lol

abyssea is pretty much blue mage heaven "Lets put every mob in game 2 seconds from a teleport"

Wiki says stunning the move doesn't affect whether or not you learn it, is that actually the case?

I used Blue Mage Hunting Grounds while I was low level. When I was able to solo in Abyssea I actually learned a TON of spells across all the zones. Some of them are a lot easier to learn than their "outside" options (Frenetic Rip/Animating Wail for example).

I'm having the worst luck with Winds of Promy. I learned the other 5 promy spells fairly easily, but this one is being a pain.

One great thing about spending so much time in the promy areas, I was able to obtain all 4 maps.
