http://www.forksoverknives.com this just about sums up all you need to know about nutrition. Also will make it quite clear why the western diet is pretty much asking for disease and sickness.

This promoted diet basically the diet the book "The China Study" suggests. After 20 years of diet research in China, they basically determined the most common American diseases (Heart disease, cancer, obesity, diabetes, etc) are cause by diet, primarily by animal products & synthetic foods.

what does that have to do with the link i posted, go watch it before you try to correct someone with nothing to base your claim on. reply to the OP with that piss.
If you wanna be constructive that's good, if you're gonna spend time correcting someone else, get your ***straight first before you do. Also, what you said is redundant to my post, which you clearly didn't click the link or watch the documentary. Or you must be a higher authority on nutrition and eating habits than these doctors and phD's who compiled this information over the course of 20 years.

I wasnt correcting you or arguing with whatever link you posted and their "facts" (which I didnt click and have no intention of).
It doesnt change the fact where processed and synthetic foods sit right now and what they have done over the past 40 years to the human body

There is a lot of junk in the food we eat and tons of added salt and sugar. It's odd that you have to pay MORE for foods that don't have all this added crap in them e.g. no added salt or sugar peanutbutter

Slug and Ath. It is a former IFBB I know. I would never intently mis- inform anyone. Why is it the smallest dogs seem to bark the most.

Yeah it's madness. It wasnt a blanket statement,I shoulda said that. But when you look at the 2 groups overall, you can see it in general vs the alternative.
My grandfather is diabetic and his diabetic versions of alot of his food (mostly snacks, but some proper foods too) are nearly triple the price.
My friend's girlfriend cant eat gluten and the foods she has to buy are 2 or 3 times more expensive than normal, for less ingredients AND taste like *** (her words) just so she doesnt have an adverse reaction. Her local pizza hut hates her because they offer gluten free pizza dough as an option, and takes nearly 3 times as long to make for whatever reason.

The worst is trans-fat, it's just sooo bad for you and it's in EVERYTHING at the grocery store. The only affordable option is really Trader Joes, and they don't carry everything you need when shopping. So I usually have to make an extra trip to Ralphs to get the random stuff.

And I assume your former IFBB is rocking an M.D.? I don't see that sloppily passing on bad information is any better than intentionally misleading someone.
Reading someone's size over the internet is a pretty cool trick, you'll have to teach me that sometime.

How is he posting bad info? I just posted a link about too much insulin the blood stream. The way too much insulin, particularly synthetic since you are essentially adding more insulin to the bloodstream, can result in diabetes is the cells develop insulin resistance.
Also you don't need an M.D. to know about insulin production and uptake. Any physiology class high school or undergraduate will tell you that...

We're talking about a different phenomena. For reasons the medical community doesn't fully understand, through consumption of sugar/simple carbs which spike insulin, inactivity, and obesity, it's possible to trigger a rise in basal insulin levels which leads to eventual insulin desensitization. This is very well documented, and something I wouldn't challenge.
We're referring to synthetic insulin in the amounts/doses that a bodybuilder would use to assist in creating a state of anabolism. I understand the principle, but claiming that spike doses of synthetic insulin would do the same thing reeks of (yay, I get to say it!) Broscience.

If 207 at 5'4 is small, then guilty as charged. Asking people to back up claims with sources is good science, not condescension. If you think a respect for the truth is condescending, you must really hate snopes/mythbusters/etc.

I know what you are referring to, and it's essentially the same process. Excessive amounts of insulin the blood stream whether it be caused by an abnormal pancreas or via injection are going to cause insulin resistance, which can lead to diabetes.
However, it's a grey area because then you get into factors like hereditary etc.
EDIT: Broscience aka physiology is just jacked up. Have you seen wiki? lol I'm not a huge fan of saying X + Y = Z simply because ONE laboratory was able to produce such a result. Whether it be metabolis

On my floor, I see a few of my patients (not the majority) beat diabetes, losing their insulin resistance through diet and exercise.
These patients, almost to a man/woman are on a basal dose of Lantus, with a 3/4x daily dose of regular insulin based on a fingerstick blood sugar, or they are on an insulin pump, one or the other.
If doses of synthetic insulin caused any appreciable amount of insulin resistance, it would be virtually impossible to get rid of type 2 diabetes once you had it, due to the constant Lantus hanging around in your body. This is not the case, I assure you.

We're comparing different levels of insulin over a period of time, but I do see your point.
This thread is basically for discussing workouts and dietary intake for people who are trying to or looking to getting into better shape or eating healthier in general.
Any and all questions regarding either of the two can be asked and hopefully answered here as well.
