I'm having a problem getting windower to run on my new laptop, win7, 64bit, NVIDIA Geforce GT 335M (drivers up to date - confirmed today). Windower either runs in regular POL mode with no console, or if i try to run as administrator it never loads at all. I have downloaded and redownloaded multiple times, reinstalled POL viewer for win7, tried changing out the hook on the windower website...nothing works
Did you try run the GUI Launcher and click the x64 box?
I did, it still either loads in POL mode, or with "RAA" it still doesnt load at all. I also went it and made sure in the ffxi config that "run in windowed mode" was not checked.
I have tried that. I right click and run as administrator, I even tried going into the properties and setting it to always run as administrator

ive seen the same thing a few times, usually just clicking x64 does the job. you made sure to run the GUI launcher as admin and launched from it to make sure the settings were saved? Juat tried that. right clicked on GUI -> run as admin -> clicked x64 -> clicked launch -> little symbol comes up like comp is thinking for a sec, then nothing.
Make sure when you download the windower, dont install it in x86 or program files at all. Make a new file and download it to your desktop in it's own file. Then it should work. Also make sure you check x64 in the settings. That should do it.
Try disabling windows UAC also.

Did you make sure to get the proper hook.dll file. I know there were a few issues that I had with it non 64bit. Try posting on there forum as well might get some extra help.
Ok, uninstalling, and will start from scratch

downloaded 3.42 -> C:\Users\Rhavin\Desktop\Windower right clicked on launcher_GUI -> run as admin clicked x64 -> clicked saved -> clicked launch nothing happened. common problem. most of the time its the driver. certain cards will only run it correctly using the windows vista drivers. i have an old ati that requires the same to run on win7 64. no one knows why but do everything everyone else said and use the vista drivers. also blinkmenot no longer works
Ok, Ducea, I also tried that. I have right clicked, and did "Troubleshoot Compatibility", and it tells me to run it either in xp serv pack 2, or vista serv pack 2, I have tried both. It still only loads the game in POL mode, no console.
he can get the game to run without windower tho if im understanding correctly.
doesnt seem like a video driver would be the prob if thats the case not sure what to say now tho, usually those couple things fix the issue Yes, the game will run without windower.
what are the advanced settings looking like in the gui launcher?

ok run your actual FF config as admin, set up your settings in there and save, run GUI and try to Import Current Settings
seems like its not wanting to save the settings to the registry entry when i click "Import current settings" i get the "Registry key does not exist" again

guess it's not wanting to find your reg entry, beyond yet another reinstall, im not sure how to remedy that I had the same issue on 7, first of did you download the PoL version for 7? it should be on the official site, that was my solution just to get PoL to run, then FFXI it self crashed, I had to completly take the the Ati drivers and let Windows use its own, if I didn't do that FFXI would just crash at the toon selection screen.
Yes, I went to the official site and downloaded the POL for win 7.
Win 7 sux, I might just take the vista CD from my desktop and get rid of 7 on my laptop with it lol |
