Everybody loved to bash wow for how "easy" it was and it was the ffxi -1, but correct me if i'm wrong but does wow have you sit in a zone from lvl 30 to 70 being completely useless? The amount of people that oppose making abyssea 70+ only makes me hate what this game has become. The subject has come up millions of times and everytime the argument comes down to " the old ways suck! Gtfo."

yeah, the old mega-grind way of getting to 75 sucked, but they already adressed how slow exp was out of abyssea. Basically, ask yourself "just because the old way sucked, does that make the new way okay?"

I'm not really looking for anything to come out of this post other than people to reconsider what an mmo is and why they play. I dont ever see ffxi reversing this huge lazy mess, partialy because so many people are so Pro-leeching.

Really? Another one? Is it really necessary? I mean, you could bump an old one, rather than create a new thread about a topic that has been run into the ground.

I switched from ffxi to WoW. And I found it a hell of a lot more entertaining to level by myself through quests than spend hour after hour doing the same ***in abyssea one job after another.

It's also the first MMO without a grind. I tried playing LOTRO online and that ***was so boring just from the grind. Sure quests offer EXP and stuff, but it's the same fetch thing over and over. I don't see the fun in that.

Yes because the fetch quests in WOW or the "hey go kill 10 crabs for me" quests over and over and over, isn't doing the same ***over and over.

When you've been playing since 2004 and want to play all jobs but don't have the time/ambition to level them, then yeah it's much better. Additionally, anyone who's not a retard knows how to play each job effectively. So you go back to your crab and bird camps. I'll cap my xp, skill up in abyssea and still be awesome

What the....
*Head Explodes*

You are presenting like 5 different arguments here:

1. FFXI now easier than WoW
2. People who oppose making abyssea 70+ suck
3. The old way of lvling sucked, is the new way ok?
4. You want people to reconsider why they play this game
5. FFXI unable to reverse the current game-dynamics because people are pro-leeching

Some of these conflict each other...
I don't even know how to respond to your post

WTF?! You present all these arguments then runaway from them...
Why post at all then?!

Sure there's a lot of those quests. But those aren't the only quests. In FFXI these days there's basically 2 ways to lv, SMN burn or abyssea. No change in scenery, basically the same mob all the time. The same drama over who lotted what and who *** up the light or *** up someones SMN burn.

Everyone is free to like what they like. And I enjoy WoW more than FFXI (the way it turned out after abyssea).

Isnt that kind of the point though? While it doesnt take a week to get from 50-60 anymore, its not supposed to take the turning of 6 keys and a couple AFKs. I recently started a new character and realized this game has basically sealed out anyone from ever wanting to start this game. Yeah i could sit in abyssea for a few hours and as soon as i get capped exp, i need to go do LB with my shitty skills. Just a really boring game for new characters.

I played WoW for a period of three months? or 4 I don't remember.

It was fun, i'll admit that.. but after you hit 85 on one character, the whole concept of having to do it over again is just ... nasty... Don't get me wrong... it was fun but it was a tad bit repetitive in certain sense and just ... got boring.

I would have kept the account and kept it running with XI if I had the money to support them both but at the moment I don't so I had to choose either coming back to XI or continuing WoW.

I can't stand the XP situation in FFXI, as it stands right now, everyone might as well have all jobs start at 90, and focus on Horizontal growth with XP and new Merits/Spectree style growth. While that doesn't solve the Abyssea XP problem, at least you are useful while doing it.

Why is that? If anything, it's opened the doors. We had a new player in my social that we helped out. He was at level 50 soloing pets bored out of his mind (and I'm sure contemplating quitting) until we let him leech in one of our abyssea parties. Now he's level 90 and can participate in our events like Dyna and Abyssea. Abyssea lets new players join older ones quickly without much of a grind and overall lets them feel included in activites, rather then excluded like the majority of the game's lifetime.

I feel the whole "Got 90 too fast, u have no idea wat u doin" argument lacks a foundation, since the difference between XP style play, and endgame style play are worlds apart. Mostly the issue originates because they leveled the job before actually researching it.

"Grind" and "Fun being in the same sentence?

ABSURD

Every good RPG has leveling as a natural consequence through progressing through the game's scenarios. FFXI got kinda close there if you leveled up along side Chains of Promathia's level cap missions (it's almost like a console RPG!)... which is unlikely and unrealistic anyways.

I propose a new idea: the player is forced to play terrible minigames between each level up.

not nearly as many people who been playing like less then 6 months in full pearl or teal or pink shyt.. its like everything else in life... somepeople do stuff one way others do it the faster way. to each their own. if it wasn't for all the people who was too lazy to do stuff for themselves half of the ls that sell items would be poor~

This have been discussed a number of times before, and the answer (from admin) has always been the same. If you dont know the answer, use the search function.

This kind of thing used to piss me off, I actually didn't even step foot into abyss until a couple weeks before the release of Heroes.

But you think of it this way;

Alot of people had multiple 75s prior to abyssea existing.. who were tired of having to sit through days or weeks of parties just to get there. And even if you leech to 90.. the time you spend skilling, doing magian trials for said job & getting gear gives you a bit of time to play with the job high lvl and figure out how it works.

There's also the fact that just because abyssea lets you enter at 30 you don't HAVE to go in so early.. I personally set a 60 limit to myself and wont take in anything lower.

Tbh, these days... I respect people that have less jobs leveled >.> Before it was "Yaahh all jobs 75, *** yes" People saw you as some kind of god for having the patience... now... Ifyou have more than 5 jobs leveled its simpley "So how many did you leech on?"

I cant see myself leveling anymore jobs. I content with what i have :x
