Abyssea or no? I've been unusually lucky with abyssea vnms if thats seriously the case.
I actually had worst lucky with abyssea ones. Last one took over 100 kills to get a colorful
I wish I could meet whoever came up with the idea so I could kill them.
ive never had a vnm in either zone over 15 to change to colorful :/
maybe your doing it wrong lol I had luck in abyssea too. Mine change pretty quick there. Outside is a ***. Ive done so many VNM trials that i have every T3 pop, and im keeping them so my colorful can never change again.

But thats just personal experience. When i pounded out Ketea in a few days i would always have someone or one of my alts try to build th on colorfuls in vunk, end result was prob like a 40% upgrade rate
