This isn't your usual Johnny Depp piracy where there are exciting sword fights, snappy one liners, and gruesome faces. This isn't your lil brother's piracy either where all there is is tons of porn ranging from midgets, to ***, to amputees.

this is the kind of piracy that spreads throughout the region surrounding the Gulf of Aden, as well as the world when American civilians are killed.

These pirates continuously attack ships of any nation. They ambush the ships, board them, take hostages (sometimes kill them), and pillage the ship.

THIS AINT NO *** MOVIE!!! These *** sucking, poor motherfucking pirates feel they can do whatever the *** they want because we haven't blown their worthless, shitty country out the ground yet.

I say America loads up the missiles, arm the warships, and we hunt these black dogs down and hang them with their skin hanging off their tiny ballsacs.

I think they should atleast dress up like pirates.

Decoy ships. Put dead ships that are of no real value there, load them with explosives. Wait for them to board.... Boom. Rinse and repeat. Once the pirates start to "disappear" and not come home, the others will get discouraged and fearful.

Put a few of those out there. After news spreads about their existence, pirates will think a little bit more about boarding ships.

Making decoy bomb ships would be more expensive.

Honestly there are way too many "pirates" in and around the Gulf of Aden for the U.S. Navy to handle alone.

What the IMO(International Maritime Organization) needs to do is implement a strict gun law for the ships. So if the vessel ever finds its self being attacked by pirates, they can do more than put razor wire around the deck and try to hit the pirates with water cannons.


Oh really, blow up some ships in a major shipping channel huh? Just *** the other hundreds or ships that transit that area daily?

Flame me if you want but Lets put Barack Obama in Bush's shoes, think he would have the balls to declare war... I doubt it. Think he's gonna go declare a war on piracy? Doubt it, he still thinks he's helping us citizens out and lowering government spending...

Reasons like this are why I'm NRA for life.

Until we get a real president, good luck getting a coordinated US effort worth while enough to fight piracy effectively.

Since the Vietnam War we've been reminded of humility and that not every war can be won, therefore we don't enter wars/conflicts with the same vigor we used to.

We need Uncle *** Sam and his good ole buddy, Thompson to remind us of what America can accomplish.

Not that I'm a fan of Obama either, In fact, I think politics are pretty much universally stupid.

As Chris Rock put it, sometimes I'm conservative, sometimes I'm liberal. If you've made up your mind on the situation before you've even heard it, you are a *** idiot. (not word for word, but yeah.)

I agree that was one motive for that war, but he at least had the initiative to finish it, just things take time and naturally 8 years *may* not have been enough. I'm just saying with our current President, we have no hope of intelligently combating piracy, he doesn't have the brains or balls... neither do our military chiefs anymore. We just don't fight with the same vigor as we used to. We need real inspiration, and sadly it may take something as big as a global conflict to stir that emotion, that vigor, in us again.

Sure Obama may start combating piracy, but the moment we don't see results at the end of a projected timelime, support for the effort will wane and the end result will be the same as when we started.

We need to go all out and if we start something, we need, from president to president, to see it finished. That's what America used to be known for.

edit: I just had to call my grandfather and ask him what he thought of Obama in office during world war II.... he wasn't happy.

America used to be known for fighting those battles with the passion they did, because they were in jeopardy.. There's very few nations in the world that could hope to bring America to it's knees these days, and pretty much all of those nations are our own allies. For at least the last 50 years pretty much any war we've gotten involved in can be linked to some ulterior motive, such as going to the Middle East to protect (the then President) Bush's stake in the oil industry.

I wouldn't say Obama is incapable of initiating and fighting a war.. I'd say he doesn't have the motive to do so. If you literally put him in Bush's shoes (having a huge stake in the oil industry, and having that industry jeopardized), he would have went to war as well.

I see your point and tend to agree. I still don't think, he'd have seen it through to the end, Bush most likely would have.

My fault for getting off topic, I do hope we send support to other countries that may be fighting this piracy, if only for the reason it's the right thing to do. I am very interested to see how this plays out for us as a nation. We have a superior military with superior training with superior arms.. they however are good at hiding lol, this could possibly take years.

One possibility for nations across the seas, in direct regional contact with the pirates, would be what we did in the Navy during the second world war. They could always give fisherman and shipping companies there the option to volunteer their services, mount each fishing ship or oil tanker or yaht with a machine gun, and a member of that countries navy to operate it. This idea of course has it's downsides, but it is a proactive concept that has worked before for us.

You can't cut the head off the snake if there is no head. The only way to stop the piracy is to cut out the origination or the source.

If you kill the ones now, what's stopping people from replacing them in the future. Also as you have eluded to, it is quite difficult to kill an enemy that is constantly hiding and in their own territory.

Like I said, Q-Ships. Basically the exterior would look like a common merchant vessel. But the insides would be stripped of everything and decked out with enough weaponry to fight a minor war on it's own. When someone took the bait (was mainly meant to draw German U-boats into making surface attacks) they would unleash hell on them.

A few run-ins with these and we'll make them think twice before boarding a ship.. They think they're invulnerable when it comes to boarding ships and taking them as hostages.. We need to show them that they're not.

As cool as it would be to blast pirates out of the water with C-130 Hercules gunships, how long until the American public begins to whine about all the dough we're spending to kill pirates?

The best solution is for the ships to be able to defend themselves. This however leads to all sorts of legal issues, particularly if you are a commercial vessel and are stopping at several ports on your voyage. If there was an easy solution, I'd assure you multi-million dollar vessels would not be getting boarded. Yachts on the other hand...well lets put it this way, if you don't have to walk/drive through the ghetto do you go? No, if you do, don't be suprised if bad stuff goes down.

This isn't just about Amurca, those bloody pirates will attack anyone who crosses that part of the ocean. They attacked French/Brits/Whoever already (well, we could care less bout the French) but its the point.

One world armed assault against these filthy lil shits and blast the whole country of Somalia out the water.
