Motorcycle Riders... Who Are You?

I am writing this topic for fellow riders to post about their current bikes, favorite riding spots, next bike, etc.

My ride is a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R.

Some of my favorite spots in SoCal are riding up and down Pacific Coast Hwy (PCH) between Dana Point on up to Long Beach. Another favorite spot is riding Ortega Hwy (CA State Hwy 74). You have to start early Sat or Sun b4 the cagers and wannabe's wake up and ruin the ride.

quite a few of my family members ride bikes.
i fancied my uncles honda shadow quite a lot lol.

I share a 98 Honda Rebel with my old man.

At 250 cc, it redefines performance riding *makes revving noises with mouth*

Seriously though, it's fun enough for scootin' around town. I'll get something nicer when I move somewhere with a longer riding season and better places to ride.

I had a 200cc dirt bike that I sold a while back.. I love bikes, particularly dirt bikes.. I sold it cuz we didn't have a trailer (or truck for that matter) and could really only ride it in our neighborhood.. I don't have a license or I'd get a dual purpose bike instead of a car..

I don't like speed so much as I like going off road, so dirt bikes really suit my needs. If I was to get a strictly on road bike, it'd probably be a ZX-7R Ninja..

Both my brother and a friend want a 'Busa and I keep telling the both of them they're idiots.. They fail to realize just how much power is wound up in a motorcycle considering it's weight and other factors.. Maybe they just want to be laid out flat on their back?

Me, I'm reasonable.. I'm not going to go for something overpowered for my purpose (getting around, unless you weigh about 700 pounds or are into serious racing, you don't need a *** 'Busa) just because it's the 'cool' thing to do..

The Ninja would give me the power if I somehow found a need for it, but it's also manageable power.

This is what I'd like to get eventually (*maybe* this summer, depending on the wife): (big pic)There's a dealership right across the street from my work and it makes me drool every day.

Edit: Yes, I realize desiring this bike makes me a bit of a tool in the world of hardcore motorcyclists.

I'm not really even sure if "biker" is the right term anymore. I went to college with a guy who was really into Bikers for Christ, and he was SO picky about terminology.

I like to ride around wearing stuff that is bound to annoy "bikers," but too lame to get them mad... like my canvas crocs and purple JC Penney hoodie.

Believe it or not, after I posted that I realized I was wearing both of those things right now, lol.

Unfortunately, even though it's nice out, it's still too cold and wet here to go out riding today =/

I'm curious, how many of you have been in accidents before?

I can think of ~8 or so people I know who own or have owned motorcycles, and every single one of them has been in at least one horrible bone-breaking accident. :/

I have. Had to go off on a corner and into the grass. High-sided and had a nice roll in the grass. Had to replace a bunch of plastic. My friend on the other hand, has had a couple of bad accidents (happens when you do a lot of wheelies).

I laid a Suzuki Katana 600 down about 7 yrs ago after getting cut off by a SUV. The SUV never stopped and I'm sure she saw me go down.

The bike was totaled and I walked away with bruised ribs and a bruised ego).

ATGATT is what saved me from more serious injuries.

I was in 2, the first one was simply becuase I was on pavement in tires meant for pure offroad, and the tires were brand *** new and I took a near 90 degree turn (into my drive way) at about 30 MPH, my bike wasn't street legal, there was a cop that got 'interested' in me after he saw me driving [other than this incident I drove under legal road rules, I even let cars always take the right of way, even when I technically had it, just because I wasn't supposed to be there legally, like come to a four way before a car, and I wanted to go straight and it wanted to turn, I'd wait until it turned before I went down the road}. I wanted to hurry up and get behind my house, there were no sirens or anything but he was definitely following me, so I got a block from my house, cranked that ***hard, hit the brakes just before my driveway and ducked inside, turning into the drive way went okay, but when I went to duck behind the house, the front tire slipped. Nothing major, no injuries, only the footstand and the grip was harmed.

The other was some truck came out of literally no where doing about 50MPH (on a back road with a speed limit of like 10) I don't quite remember what happened, but I hit the clutch, turned to the side to get out of it's way, dropped down the gear but somehow put it into 1st when I should of been in 2nd or 3rd (I really don't remember the whole thing, it went so fast, it was over in less than a second) and my back tired locked up and started skidding all over the place, I nearly went over the handlebars and at the same time nearly fell infront of the truck. I managed to keep control.. But only just


I know technically both are my fault because I wasn't legally supposed to be on the road, but I'm far more careful about what I do, I realize my place, realize I'm not even supposed to be there and yield to everyone who is...

well, if it's any consolation to you he traded in for a harley.

having a motorcycle is better than having no motorcycle imo lol.
i'll get one one of these days and it'll probably be a honda because I buy American.

Honda CBR125R

small engine because of irish laws since i only started in 2008.having passed my full license test (dont ask) and my 2 year restriction ending in april,I can get whatever I want from then on.

I ride a 2004 Honda CBR600RR, though I'm looking to sell it so that I can move from Michigan to Illinois to live with my girl. @.@;

I live in the Toledo, OH area, so there's no real scenic routes in the area (unless you consider the farmland in Michigan 'scenic' >.>).

2007 Honda CBR 1000rr bought it new in 07, dont ride much anymore its actually on craigslist now
