I don't mind sitting by the router plugged in, but it's nice to have a laptop be portable <.<
they make USB wifi dongles.
I mean if you're good with a screwdriver you could replace (the probably mini-pci-e) wifi card on the device, and see how that works.
but I'd fiddle with the driver/settings and make sure it's just not an interference issue.
question: is your old laptop G only?
edit: what OS is on your main laptop, and the old one: respectively?
I'm told Vista has a shitty wireless stack. Actually using vista now (need a new storage device before I can use my copy of 7 (too much data to lose)) and the wireless works fine. Though I do have a good wifi card and rarely use it.
Honestly I rarely have any issues with Vista. Other than it using up more memory than is needed.
As much as I dislike Best Buy, if you are looking for a quick solution you can pick up tomorrow/today.
USB device
My sis has this one, and it works great.
1 card working =/= all cards working as they should.
Vista was a horrendous mess, glad I never attempted to use it.
I plan on skipping 8 as well.
(I hate when I have to work on somebody's Vista box... gah).
I'd sooner just pick up a linksys card at walmart, or bestbuy works if you want to go there.

If you're feeling brave with a screwdriver you could also order the miniPCI-E wireless card and just replace your internal nic, but I still don't believe anything is wrong with it, physically.
I know, I was just providing a positive testimonial. I do greatly dislike vista but if you configure it properly like anyone should, then it isn't so bad (still not as good as XP or 7).

I plan on putting 7 on it when I can get a new external storage. Have about 600gb of stuff I need to back up and would rather not have to re-download, make, etc.

At the time, I only had the one 1tb drive. I need to get a SSD for my OS and pick up another 2tb hdd.

Actually this guy that does these youtube videos are funny and interesting.
I showed one of the United Kingdom earlier today. The video did bring up some points that I didn't even know.
Atleast these videos are clean, educational and funny.

So there's this huge gash in the back of one of my favorite sleeveless shirts. I'm upset over that, but it just suddenly dawned on me that I don't remember when it tore, so I have no idea how long it's been there. For instance, it might have been there when I went to the grocery store... Suddenly I wonder if I embarrassed myself in public without my knowledge again.

one pocket on my coat ripped open completely and looks super dramatic but I didn't notice either. so I spent that day looking like a hobo (and I was in a few busy places where everyone caught a glimpse of me, damn I am sexy)
I feel ya mag Yeah, there's not much you can do with that unless you usually carry a sewing kit with you. Personally, I'm not much of a mender, but I do have a ton of duct tape. I still use a lot of clothing that is being held together entirely by duct tape, but I don't think that trick will work on this shirt. That might be a bit more noticeable.

For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
