I was going to get my girl one of those, but I opted for a bluetooth player with the same functionality built in (netflix mainly) the price of the Roku is a little out there for just being a dedicated device, imo.

Morning everyone, finally the weekend.

Bluetooth player with netflix? Blu-ray?

yar.

not sure if this is the exact model, but at least very similar

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sony+-+Wi-Fi+Built-In+Blu-ray+Player/4790296.p?id=1218531614485&skuId=4790296

the wifi feature did lag though, but at the time it was using G, and not sure the exact cause, may just be a bad wifi nic in the device.

I prefer wired when I can though, and the wired model is a little cheaper.

and to all the PS2 naysayers: I spent hours attempting to get a 360 controller working with FFXI, used to use a PS3 controller (was a bit glitchy).

took me 5 minutes to get a ps2 controller working/configured properly.

you can't explain that :P

I got something like that for a friend on Christmas, since he didn't have a 3D TV, I had to make sure to get the model without the 3-D Blu-Ray function.

I was thinking of getting one for myself just because of all the quirks on the Playstation 3 and trying to run Blu-Rays. It refused to play Prometheus until I updated the system.

even standalone bluray players require firmware updates to play newer blurays, it's kind of a sad joke.

working and working properly aren't the same thing.

I have both analog and my l2/r2

edit: well I could have had it working, if I had a wired one.

kind of makes me want to hawk the wireless adapter and just order a wired controller, good thing I only paid like $13 for it or some cheap price like that.

Mine was working perfectly, all sticks, buttons, triggers etc were exactly the same as the 360 version. Mind you i used a seperate pc controller before that and i couldnt get the triggers working

What? Uh-oh.

My friend doesn't have internet access where the player is.

yeah, Sony were *** on that one. I think I had to update ours just to play the only BluRay I own: Star Wars collection.

wait, that's not true, I also have the last Family Guy star wars.

official xbox controller?

then calling ***.

FFXI won't recognize a xinput device, it will enumerate it as direct input device.

M$ said:
The Xbox 360 Controller is properly enumerated on DirectInput, and can be used with the DirectInputAPIs. However, some functionality provided by XInput will be missing from the DirectInput implementation:

The left and right trigger buttons will act as a single button, not independently
The vibration effects will not be available
Querying for headset devices will not be available

No not official xbox controller but it uses the same driver and it worked just fine. When first plugged it in it installed the microsoft xbox 360 input driver

Edit: just read your quoted part,i completrly forgot i had that problem actually, both triggers worked as one buttom and gave me the same input.

then that's not the same thing.

I'm betting that it either had a switch or some sort of built in directinput functionality, which would actually be rather amazing for an offbrand.

I know the logitech controllers have a switch on the back, but their quality has gone downhill hardcore over the years.

I have to call him today and find out what model I bought him. I wonder if you can just use a usb flash drive then do that. I know the player had that cause I was showing him how to run movies from it rather than burn a crap load of dvds.

I love how my mother asked about Blu-Ray recorders. My aunt in Japan sends alot of burned Blu-rays with shows and stuff. I tried to tell her unless we want to spend $2,000 for it, we'll have to wait alittle longer til it hits market here.

lol, I have a bluray burner, on my PC.

and I'd hope they'd give that option.

well xbcd got the wired controllers working, but I don't know of a good solution for the wireless.

I could never get used to the movement controls on the keyboard, too unnatural feeling for me.

It would work with third party xbox wired controllers also? Just wondering.

it should, if it's made on the same standard, the driver I believe has a list of hardware ID's that if it's not seeing it you could probably add it.
