Funny thing about biking in Japan, bicycles are required, by law, to follow the same exact laws as Cars. Also, bikes are not allowed on side walks, and there are certain streets bikes are not allowed on. If you are ballsy enough, i would say ride a scooter here. They can do anything, including going straight to the front of the line at a stop light between cars......

technically: bicycles are supposed to follow the same laws as cars here, and not be on sidewalks...

not many follow that though.
