Maintain: nothing unless something like hard drive or motherboard goes bad. Then I'd be looking at 70$ for a harddrive, 200$ for a motherboard, ect.

However PC gaming is my hobby. I love playing games at their max. So I will be spending a lot on my PC over the next couple years. My main goal is 3 42inch screens, which will require me to buy 3 graphics cards and SLI them, so I'll need a better powersource, ect. so I'll be spending maybe 5k later this year (after I get a stable job) building my dream PC from scratch that will easily last me 5 to 8 years. I will turn my current PC into my backup PC.

This. Very much this. We take things waaaay beyond the normal person.

You can build a very solid PC for less then 1k that will last a couple years easy.
