The art's great, but it's way too over the top. Let's take four episodes to charge a ball of energy that someone could walk away from with ease! Little girls with huge guns that they couldn't even carry much less be able to whip out, fire and with a huge beam on their face cause someone to explode not in a mass of bones and organs, but basically a huge blood balloon. Then there are those animes that you have to read, and honestly I'd rather spend my time elsewhere. So, essentially it's the style. I enjoy Trigun, but even of that I can only handle so much before wanting to move elsewhere. So, it's not my thing, really. I do understand the appeal, though.
Fair enough. I think ya might need to just find the right one then. They aren't ALL over the top, exaggerated messes, though I agree some are, and are funny as a result. Comedic anime are pretty great too lol.
I can like animes like I like other western cartoons...I just wont go out of my way to watch them and I wont go 'jp onry'. If its dubbed I'll watch the dub version. How do I know if the acting or dialogue is better? I don't speak jp.
not sure if I can name the last anime I watched though

Well, it's sorta like getting food poisoning. You have one bad experience with the stuff, and suddenly you never want to eat it again. The first anime I watched was Vampire Hunter D, and I was pretty much done with it when he started talking to his hand. Then I watched Kill Bill, and that part where the little girl in the anime part pop the blood balloon that was that dude's head, I was pretty much done with anime. I did give Trigun a try after some coercion however, and I do enjoy Westerns, so I felt I was able to connect to that.
Anime is a gateway drug that leads to hentai, and Mag has seen what has happened to me and chose to learn from my mistakes.
Anime is a slippery slope, from what I've heard. You guys get me to watch Full Metal Panic at the Disco or whatever, and next thing you know I'll have a Yoko body pillow.

I think you need some Cowboy Bebop then. Western noir style anime, set in the future. It's pretty ***' rad.

Those are terribad examples of anime. Try Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo if you ever get the inkling.

I did see a couple episodes of that while watching Adult Swim late at night a number of years ago, and I didn't hate it.
It's all groovypants, buddeh. I appreciate the thought, though. I'm gravy with what I usually do. Sitting here watching Dirty Jobs, and this dude cracks me up so much that I just look away when he makes snide comments about global warming.
Double nope. Is there an anime for someone who likes shows like Scrubs, Psych and Parks and Recreation, or movies like The Big Lebowski?
Ghost Hunt.
It did not do well in japan. The american company that bought it told the translation team they didn't care what they did with it.. Sooooo they completely altered the script and hired on some of the best voice actors in the industry and made a priceless anime.
Fff I love me some psych but idk...when I say "Im going to start watching an anime series today" (which I dont think Ive ever said) I don't usually say "let me find a comedy". Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop had comedy in it though (the cowboy bebop refrigerator episode or the one with Ed in the desert)..if you're gonna start with a series then these are pretty much the first anybody'd recommend. Because they lean on the serious side but have commedy but are not horribly fugly..they're stylish and the dubbing is decent..
I haven't seen Last Exile, but I liked WHR, Gundam Wing and Samurai Champloo. Daus you got good taste in anime.
Last Exile is great...the dubbing is not stupendous but from what I remember its on the definite good side of average..the style is not ugly Ronin Warriors or w/e and is relatively attractive. (I can't do ugly anime very well)
and I just like Airships and Crispin Freemans voice.
its probably not as good as I remember...dont want to give out spoilers but those last few episodes were mentally painful to watch..it felt like I was watching Game of Thrones if you know what I mean.
GTO was a comedy that wasn't too fanservicey, most of the girls had human-like proportions.
It's basically about an ex-bike gang leader who becomes a teacher at a school where all the kids are evil ***, and through the power of his sheer badassery (as well as dating a few students moms) he wins most of them over to his side.

The dubbed version of that anime is pretty *** up lol. I figured it had to have been an altered script by far.
excuse you all, lets watch the opening of this show and ask ourselves how we could not think this has some sort of greatness in it. I mean, look at the dramatic anime turn-arounds and air-gustys.
the whole f-ing thing is on youtube and in english.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
