It really is one of the best current games atm. You just need to open yourself up to the idea of dying, because by dying you learn what not to do next time.
I don't think I've played a game as much as dark souls and still loved it as much as when I started.
Its for PC too :P If you can handle XIV you can prob handle PC version.. torrent it!
Just know.. you'll never be as skilled as Josi is in this video. :I
So Dark or Demons Souls? Which should I get if I decide to get one?
the story of dark souls is better, though the game doesn't hand feed you anything and that includes the story. Looking at the story from the big picture, it's average. If they just fed you what the story really is you wouldn't think anything of it, but the beauty of dark souls is that you have to dig for yourself. You actually discover for yourself what the story is, and that is brilliant I think. If you don't even try to though then you won't even notice there is one really.
The action of dark souls is a bit upgraded for the better honestly.
PvP of demon's souls is server based, while PvP on dark souls is p2p. I'd say demon's souls is better there.
Demon's Souls can be more difficult (imo) than Dark souls, but both games let you eventually become godly powerful to overtake any enemy in the game. The difficulty, just like any game, is based on how much control you have over yourself in upgrading. The less you upgrade weapons and armor the more difficult the game is. If you like that sort of thing then keep it low, don't go above +5 stuff. +10 is about medium difficulty, and +15 is easy. Keep in mind that even if you upgrade all your armor and shields, you can still die to the weakest enemy in the game if you don't pay attention. It's hard to, but it's possible especially in NG+.
The areas in Dark Souls I think are much better, plus it's open world so it wins by default basically.
The music in Dark Souls is better I think as well.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of dying all the time lol.
It's not really dying as you would know it from other games, it's a built in mechanic. When you are dead you can leave a sign on the ground that living characters can use to summon you into their world, or you can invade the world of another person and hunt them down, nither of which you can do while living. When dead you also can't be invaded so it makes the exploration side alot safer.
I think it depends on the player and their ability to adapt and learn from dying.. running thru the first areas of the game were super easy for me the second time around. I love both games very much though.. an impressive atmospheric feeling that no game has ever given me in a long time.
There are benefits for turning human, or using humanity.
Turning human allows you to summon players for "jolly cooperation" and take on the areas as a team. Note tho, that the game was not designed for two players in mind, so you will have a significant advantage if you do this. The AI just doesn't handle two players.
Also, by using humanity you increase your stats and item discovery. By stacking on more humanity you can take less damage and have higher resists to bad elements and enfeebles.
Its optional Leon.. can turn the internet off and still play :P
You get NPC's sometimes to help with boss fights.. I usually go into offline mode for bosses so no one kills me before I can summon the npcs -.-
Demon's souls had a feature where you could read messages from other players they laid on the ground like "Its a trap!".. Dark souls has it too but none of them have been useful to me :/
Is Dark Souls a MMO?
Some sites mention this, but I think it might be the PC version.
I wish they would explain these things in black and white sometimes.
If you use a humanity and go to the bonfire to restore your humanity (turn human) you open yourself to being invaded.
What this means is players playing on the same platform as you within your level range can invade you, kill you, and steal your humanity.
They also earn some souls, and under special circumstances they can earn other things like dragon scales, death eye, etc.
So you need to be online to play it? Or is the whole invading thing optional? D:
Playing offline is optional, at least on consoles. I heard some problems with PC because of using the windows live thing, idk.
You can choose to play offline (if you know how to do that) and that way you can run around in human form without any risk of being invaded (unless you come across a spot where NPC's are suppose to invade you, like the depths, blighttown, painted world, lost izalith, demon ruins, tomb of the giants, etc).
Some claim that playing offline is cheating, but that's only because they want to kill people lol >.>

Thanks....er......that cleared everything up.
Is Demon Souls and Dark Souls two different games?
Demon's Souls was a PS3 exclusive, and sony owns the rights to the game.
In order to broaden their audience they had to basically recreate the game in a different way for all consoles. That's why Dark Souls was born, plus they wanted to update the game a bit.
Dark Souls II will also be all platforms, but there is a lot of controversy over it on what they plan on doing with it. Scary stuff for souls fans :(
Ok, so I decided to turn into a adolescent chocobo and run around port jueno for a little bit while lfp. Suddenly, brother and father make a random visit. Brother notices that I am a "chicken"... he then makes a comment; "Out of all the things you could be online, you decided to be a chicken. What the hell is wrong with you."
...the awkward moment of explaining to him what a costume was in ffxi.
Kirk, also known as the Knight of Thorns, is an infamous knight belonging to the Darkwraith faction. He has only one goal in life, apart from stealing Humanity, which is to make his prey bleed from nasty cuts inflicted by his gnarly weapons and armor.
If you kill him 3 times in one playthrough (depths, demon ruins, lost izalith) then you can go to the chaos sister covenant location (after beating the blight town boss and hitting the fake wall 1 level below the bell) then you can obtain his armor.
By wearing his armor you can damage players. This is good because you can roll and potentially stagger someone giving you an opening to back stab or just get a hit in.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
