hackintosh are certainly doable, just a matter of finding a laptop with similar enough hardware to make it easy.

TBH there's very little a mac offers in software that you can't get on the PC, and there's no real benefit that you can't get on linux.

there's a few exceptions to the rule, but in 99% of cases this is true.

you can even get that silly looking taskbar thing the mac has in windows...

I don't hate until people start up on how amazing macs are and that their iphine is better then my android... Those people bug me because they are just the ifad crowd.

My mom used macs for years for photo editing because they used to be deseigned for that kind of thing. She uses a pc now for photoshop and lightstudio because it performs better.

MACs used to use RISk cpu's (I believe IBM PowerPC iirc), instead of the intel based, or now amd based.


the RISK cpu enabled them to perform the math faster for such things, since they no longer use said types of processing, the idea that "macs are better for graphics" is dead.

You can get a "PC" for cheaper that performs better and is more versatile. Hell you can even put MAC OS on it then if you want.

Well She doesnt know how to use windows then is what i should say, she knows the os for macs.

and actually i only spent 350 on a mac from newegg and works awesome. older model but does same ***

You'd all have excellent points if the kid didn't already have the mac.

If she was asking your opinion on what computer she should buy her daughter, then the correct answer is absolutely a PC or a hackintosh. She wasn't though, and all the mac rants in the world aren't going to change that the kid already has(and enjoys) her mac. Don't see why you all care so much..

just a gift to get her this year. dread mentioned buy a pc but she has a mac already and she can use my pc if she wanted

I'd like to add: that this is entirely in fun.

Some people are way too serious.


Aly: I have a Sansa clip (whatever version, not sure) and have Rockbox installed on it (custom firmware).

expandable memory, charges via USB, the same as most phones.

There's some real fancy players that are pretty much phones without the phone, Samsung has a good one I'm told, but personally I don't think it's worth it for just music.

I've picked it up again... I used to love salvage and since the new salvage came out, a few of my friends have come out of the woodwork so we can goof around in neo-salvage so I figured I would give it a go as well.

I logged in last night for the first time in over a year... the controls felt weird and I didn't have access to my mog locker ~.~
