At least Neil stayed dead. Personally, I hated that they brought in Lyle just to keep Lockon looking the same. He was nothing like Neil (although that was probably the entire point), and his role could've easily been filled by already existing characters instead of making season 2 even more of a clusterfuck.
My headcanon has Feldt becoming the pilot of Cherudim and one of the Celestial Being engineers being the Katharon spy.
Hope Feldt gets voiced lines in G Generation Frontier; it's annoying because she's the only unvoiced character on my team in Overworld. :x
I like Shinn as he appears in all the well-written works (G Generation games, Super Robot Wars games, etc), but in the show he was kind of a douche. Rey was a total ***, though. :I

Of course they could kill the main character. Look at the end of 00 season 1; only one of the four main characters was confirmed to be alive, and one was 110% deadsies.
so part of the poor writing on Seed was drama w/ the actors?
00 S2 pissed me off a bit, with those look alike popping up out of nowhere, but at least they where explained.... unlike effing Seed D!

Most of the characterization problems in SEED/Destiny can be traced back to drama between Morosawa and the cast, yeah. Even the actors themselves complained that the scripts weren't making any sense.
00S2 pissed me off loads. It took everything that made S1 good and threw it off the table in order to bring in a "more Gundam" story. What look-alikes weren't explained in Destiny?
