Van Gogh loves running around wielding razors to hack off people's ears. I've seen him do it.

I know I know I'm late, I've been sleeping a lot today.
Necromancer, what kind of weapons does it use?
What is a Brawler exactly? Welcome back, Spath-kun.
That list's out of date. This one has descriptions. Fighter - Basic close combat role. Can use a variety of weapons.
-Berserker - Specializing in the use of two-handed weapons, these Fighters can enter an uncontrolable berserk state in order to increase their attacking power.
-Weaponmaster - Focusing their training on the mastery of all weapon types, these Fighters can equip any weapon, but learn nothing but weaponskills.
-Lancer - Specializing in the use of polearms, these fighters have a variety of techniques focused on piercing their enemies defences.
-Warrior - Taking their basic training to the next level, these fighters can use a variety of weapons and abilities to inflict damage on their opponents.
Knight - Basic combat role, focusing on the protection of other party members.
-Paladin - Holy knight specializing in the protection of their party members via the use of defensive and healing spells.
-Dark Knight - Knight specializing in the use of blood magic; inflicting harm upon themselves in order to protect their allies and damage opponents.
-Samurai - Knight specializing in the protection of their party members via offensive abilities and counterattacks.
Monk - Basic close combat role focused on hand-to-hand combat.
-Master Monk - Taking the spiritual training of the Monk to more extreme levels, these Masters can use a variety of spiritual abilities to deal damage to enemies and heal allies.
-Brawler - Neglecting their spiritual training, these Monks have instead decided to focus themselves on improving their physical abilities.
Thief - Basic support role, specializing in inflicting status ailments and stealing items.
-Dancer - Using their bodies as a focus for their mana, Dancers can inflict a variety of status enhancements on their allies and status ailments on their enemies.
-Assassin - Focusing on dispatching their enemies at all costs, Assassins use a variety of physical and magical techniques to inflict heavy damage on their opponents.
-Ninja - Specializing in the elimination of enemies, Ninjas use a combination of swift attacks and special tools to deal damage and inflict status ailments on their enemies.
-Gambler - Specializing in luck-based abilities, these Thief/Caster hybrids can use a wide variety of abilities, but have little control over their effects.
Archer - Basic combat role, focusing on the use of bows and crossbows.
-Sniper - Taking their training to the next level, these Archers can use bows, longbows and crossbows to deal heavy damage to their enemies.
-Hunter - Specializing in the use of bows, these Archers can inflict a variety of status ailments on their targets.
-Gunslinger - Using the recently invented managun, these Archer/Caster hybrids can use a variety of magical attacks to damage their enemies.
Mage - Basic support role, able to use a small variety of both offensive and defensive magic.
-Black Sage - These Mages focus entirely on learning black magic. Able to use a variety of spells to damage and impair their opponents.
-White Sage - Mages focused purely on defensive and healing spells. Able to recover the health of allies and bestow status enhancements.
-Swordsage - Unsatisfied with mystical training alone, these Mages have become masters of combining their magical abilities with the art of swordplay.
-Beastcaster - Masters of manipulating mana, these Mages have gained the ability to siphon their enemies mana reserves; sometimes gaining new abilities in the process.
Caller - Basic support role, able to call forth ethereal beings to aid the party.
-Evoker - Taking their training to extreme heights, these Callers can summon the most ancient and powerful ethereal beings to do their bidding.
-Channeller - Combining their magical talents with martial abilities, these Callers use their own bodies to channel ethereal beings, essentially becoming living weapons.
-Necromancer - Callers that use the corpses of other beings as recepticles for channeling ethereal beings. Also, races are:
Humans.
Elves. (not hoity toity prissy princess elves; just slightly different humans)
Very (like dangerously furry) cat people (almost extinct)
More human-like cat people (cat ears and tail.
Lizard people.
Also also; for anyone wanting a character.
Physical descriptions are a must-have. As are names.
The more detail you put into your character's personality and background, the more chance they've got of having an actual story segment.
Less background and personality means more chance of being an arena opponent.
For now, characters are limited to one class tree; that is one base class and all it's advanced classes. This is to give each character a sense of uniqueness, while still giving the player some choice in how they progress.
It will be entirely possible to fully level all classes of a tree, but that's the same kinda thing as saying that it's entirely possible to cap every role for every character on FF13; it's possible, but it's not something that will happen over the course of normal story-line gameplay.
Think that's all for now.

That actually goes for anyone who needs help with that aspect. I do love developing characters.

I suppose you need one of those from me as well. Hmmm... Ghost Scruffy... Well you're a ghost boss fight, so don't really need much background to stay out of the arena. :p
Though it would be cool to have bits and pieces of information about life at the ruined castle back in the day lying around to read. :O

Oh, gods damn it!
I knew I'd forgotten something! >_>;
Despair Skills; think Limit Breaks or Overdrives. Go nuts; these are your ultimate moves.
Somewhere between 3-6 Despair Skills per character would be good; could get an even progression throughout the game. Make sure to point out which order you want to learn them in.
Try and keep it fitting with whatever class tree you choose, please.
By Leonkasai 2012-10-27 19:17:14
Way to kill the thread, Leon...
Welp, I'm off to bed. Got all the scripts working; next thing to do is make all the skills and abilities and all the other crap that goes along with them. :I
G'night all~

Mmm kay.
Gonna do a makeshift description here, Mag I don't want to specifically ask for you to help with some character development but if you read this and find anything you think would make my character pop, I'm glad for the input.
Name: Troy
Race: Elf
Class: Channeler
Description: Eyes are a light, ethereal blue thanks to the years of channeling beings into my body. Hair a dark red as if dyed by years of blood spilled in battle and cut shortish, my bangs somewhat longer and half covering my left eye. Somewhat tall, maybe a max of 1.9 meters, physique is lean, light muscles from physical training to increase the resistance of my body when under the effects of my channeling. I'll leave the details of my face up for interpretation but it is almost always seemingly emotionless. Personality somewhat betrays my face, being extremely playful and yet serious in nature, I hate needless fighting but can be angered easily by "evil" actions such as the harming on innocents, having a high sense of justice as a result. While channeled, my personality differs slightly, becoming quite sadistic towards my enemies, playing with them while I deal great harm and almost going into a bloodrage due to the powers of the ethereals.
Background: Born to a somewhat noble family, my life began leisurely, having been born with a silver spoon in my mouth. Spoiled heavily as a child, I started with the personality of most children under those conditions, being highly ignorant of the lower people and their plights and acting very arrogantly towards everyone. As I grew however, I began experiencing blackouts, waking in woodlands or nearby villages, the earth around me scorched pure black. I was secluded to the residence of my family for two years, the blackouts continuing, though less often. At the age of 13, another blackout occurred, upon waking all around me the house I had lived in was burning, my parents and servants lay sprawled around me, dark bruises upon their body and their clothes shredded the pieces by some unknown force. A small puppy, who had been given to me only a year ago to help with my seclusion, struggled to breath in my lap as I wept the poor animal dying in my arms. Sitting there for hours as the house around me burned down, revealing the lavish countryside around me. Traumatized, and fearing ostracization and abuse from the rest of the world I quickly buried what little remained of the household and hid myself away from the world. Fearing civilization I stuck mostly to caves or small clearings. Entering towns only for supplies which I paid for with manual labor, taking little so as to spend a little time in the towns as possible. My life changed exceptionally, finally realizing what it was "normal" people did for their things I became much more humble. ****Ending here for now****
I was hoping to finish my background before doing anything else but a certain king has called for me. >.>; I'll finish this by tomorrow but here's a rough idea so far. If you have any suggestions to make it fit better etc feel free to PM them or w/e and I'll fix 'em for ya Leon. XP

I can't believe i'm camping the AH for crystals... this game must be dead <.<
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
