Ah ok...it's just my pessimistic side, I think. :p I know if it would happen to me, my mind would be racing about how the water was pooling everywhere, spreading through the insulation to the surrounding drywall warping everything, that it had been doing that for days before I had even noticed the leak, how much it would cost me, etc. etc.

You're not the only one, Schutz. I would start freaking out about mold and mildew also. I would start poking through walls, go into the attic, and what not. Allergens are a nightmare to me.
Ironic thing is that its leaking over my shower. So I don't have to worry about anything getting wet.
If it's around the shower, it can be the shower's condensation itself causing the "leak" not the roof. The steam could be saturating the drywall above the shower, so it may not be as bad as you think.
It could be that your apartment/house was poorly constructed. Contractors will cut corners sometimes, and not use the appropriate sheet rock that is waterproof. Is there tile, and if so, is it cracking?
