if I take a HDD from one computer, and transplant it to another PC (different hardware) will it recognize the OS and try to boot up... or will it need a reinstall (my friend was asking, i'm kinda sure about the answer but want to get verification) I guess this will help me when I do my build also :p

If you are trying to swap main for main, it should work fine. I've done it before. the OS will boot up without a hitch. If you are putting a drive with an OS on it as a seocndary HD, then you'll need to load the boot priority in the BIOS so the PC knows which HD to boot from. lol oh nothing usually in there :P why should i check it often? lol

I'm assuming (from what he's told me) is that he is swapping in the HDD from his old PC, to the PC he just built yesterday ... so i'm glad I was right ... he says it's not working though :/ (either that or his install was corrupted before he transferred and he isn't fessing up lol) |
