Nuuu Minefield :( Ah well. I got my daily emasculating "squee" out of the way at 2000 tonight I guess :P
And ohh~ gotcha. Thought so but I hate to assume.
Medic is great in that it's something you will never forget. I'm confident in saving the life of ANYONE saveable. The problem is recognizing that sometimes... they aren't. That's the worst part. "Triage" is the enemy of people with big hearts. Basically you have to pick an order of priority for patient care in the event you're overwhelmed. The problem? The 'Expectant' category are people who you cannot spend the resources on due to extreme injuries that would lessen your ability to treat others. This means they are likely going to die.
The training is VERY hard (think about it, you are literally holding lives in your hands) and is a mildly long training (16 weeks after BCT's 9 weeks). But it is in San Antonio so it's awesome :Q
And lol; I was like the the first time I joined back in 2004. I was a Field Artillery Automated Tactical Data Systems Specialist. Yeah, sounds fun. Until you realize you're the one pointing the laser-pointer at air strike targets when you're not typing in coordinates. And in a war with mild artillery use? You are a gunner on convoys.
Just gotta have a plan!
Oh, and being gay isn't an issue. If you are flamboyant about it SOME people might give you ***but just either give it right back or go through command. They don't tolerate it at ALL. If you're quiet about it, same thing.
There's a LOT of offensive things said in the Army. Especially in medical and infantry units. We just don't care about offending people it seems lol.
