Thinking about trying XIV. Got a few kinda derp questions though.
I'll answer what I can if you want.
1. How are weapons/armor repaired?
Roommate's biggest complaint was she had to level 4 crafts to repair her gear xD
2. How does the job/class system work exactly?
3. What's a good US/EU server to play on?
We beta'd on Alexander or Besaid I think.
4. Is there a comprehensive list of things they've added/removed/patched since launch anywhere?
All I got atm.
1) Items are repaired using the craft needed to craft/meld them, need to be minimum 10 levels below the item's level and have the required level dark matter. level 1-9 is level 1 matter, 10-19 is lv2 and so on. It's normally not hard to find someone to repair your stuff so having the craft leveled isn't really required.
2) Classes are pritty much used as a base and shares exp/level with it's related job. When you are on a class you can equip up to 10 abilities cross class at 50 (+1 every 5 levels I think) from any of the other classes. Some abilities are for any class, others only for DoW or DoM and others just for that specific weapon. When you equip a job crystal you become limited to abilites from 2 other classes (decided based off the job) and can set a max of 5 at 50 in exchange for gaining access to up to 5 job abilities which are gained through quests rather then leveling. Simply put classes are for well rounded use and best for soloing until you have unlocked a couple abilities for your job, jobs are more focused in their purpose and function best in a party. Ie MRD cans set cure/protect/stoneskin off cnj to help with survivability but if you set war you are limited to pug and gladiator abilities so will need a healer support in most cases but in exchange get better tanking abilities.
3) Servers I've only been on Durandal really so can't comment, Ragnarok is their official EU server but everything I hear about it says its fairly dead for the most part.
4) Theres
This which links to the patch notes from 1.19 onwards which is were stuff really started to change up till may, from there you can check june and july's past topics as well... if theres a straight up list I havn't seen one but I'm sure its around somewhere.
