Here's my gripe with it. No replay value. Sure you can make different classes, but ultimately only some work well enough to go through some of the harder parts of the game unless you level grind which is boring. The zodiac stones were supposedly super important to the story, but the main story only covers like what 8/13? Maybe 7. If you went through the game and got EVERY hidden character like I did, and got the 13th hidden stone, the ending didn't change. Not even by 1 scene. It was so stupid.

I've played it over 20 times.. replay value is dependent on the person. Did you like Suikoden Tactics? lol.. and you don't like grinding yet you play XI and other mmos which are basically the same.. lol

*** HATED Suikoden tactics. I loved every Suikoden game except tactics. Parts of it were fun, but I didn't like the main story. The main character was a colossal pussy lol... Point being with FF tactics for something so important to the story, getting the hidden ones didn't change anything. Also the ending didn't make sense to me, personally.

Level grinding really didn't do anything for you in the game unless you didn't use Ramza, enemies were scaled by his level. As for needing specific groups, I've played with healers and with out, with story characters and with out, mage heavy and mageless. You can make pritty much anything work if you do it right. Thats where the fun comes from for me.

iirc the ending for Tactics was bad, I should go and play it again, did the psp one remove some glitches (like the ability to up your speed stat by using the same move over and over)?

If I remember right there is a stone for each of the "Named" characters (including the 3 who are the same as random characters) minus the chocobo and robot. If I'm remembering right the legend in the game was of the 12 warriors who carried the stones, they basicly represent that your characters are the reincarnation of those warriors. Only this time around they relied on their own powers not those of the stones.

Atleast thats what I got from it.
