City jobs here require no actual skill set whatsoever... you just have to be connected (oh patronage) or a minority...
Edit: then you can't get fired and you also get a pension that you don't have to pay into...

Here, applying at the post office requires you purchase a book (40 bucks), study from it, and then take a test before they even consider you.
Maybe I just need to live in another damn state. I don't work, but I do have insurance provided by the Philadelphia Fire Department. The insurance is amazing from the city.

You'd figure if they know you're looking for a job, they might also know you can't afford to blow 40 bucks on a book you'll probably only use a couple times before you take the test.
The last time I got an interview when I was like 3 years ago lol.
I can't find a job anywhere in this god forsaken state... noone will hire a crippled person in a wheelchair (or maybe i'm just picky in the areas I want to work at :p)
