I'm a very religious girl and you're offen...sorry, I can't even type it without laughing. Yeah, you're as much of a devout Catholic as I am a radical Baptist. I prayed a lot in my life! My knees still have the scars...ok I'll stop! Usually praying is done in silence....

Basically, my brother, his wife, and I had a small get-together at my brother's house two years ago. I always find it wierd how they focus in on just a few things to criticize... Like gay marriage... I had a short convo with two co workers... and one of them was like "well Jesus says it's wrong" and so on and so forth... We have religious freedom in this country and a dvierse population in which people worship different gods or the same on in different ways or none at all... we can't force one's view down everyone elses throat... "well it's wrong blah blah blah" I'm like "don't you have two kids?" "yes" "and you had them out of wed lock?" *silence* I'm like "Because, as you know Jesus certainly frowns upon that..." Just walked away lol...
the whole point is they seem to just pick and choose the ones they want... not to mention that the chrch and it's flock should have nothing to say about it or be upset as long as they're not forced to perform the marriages... which they wouldn't be... anyways... yeah...

I don't see why your parents find it necessary to continually jam Christianity down your throat in your adulthood. You're the AH sweetpea! I can't imagine you being anything else outside of here.
I try to be nice, but I tell people off sometimes. My folks are fundamentalist Baptists atm (they bounced around a few different denominations before settling on Baptist) and they are just very, very concerned that anyone who is not also a fundamentalist Baptist is going to hell. I'm sure it's frightening for them to think that their youngest daughter is on a high wide road to hell, but as their youngest daughter, they drive me crazy over it. xD
They are also mad that I support gay rights. Either they'll get over it or they won't, I'm finding it harder to care one way or the other. :-( So I'm not that sweet irl, if I don't even care if my parents have serious moral and ethical problems with my personal beliefs. If I was sweet, I'd have my own beliefs but I'd still give a darn what they thought. I just don't anymore. I used to, and I felt like a rug being walked on all the time.
basically the same situation for me, and one reason I really don't follow up or do stray off, it is because they try to shove religion to my face and they keep telling me "you should do this and that"
I still remember my family (aunts+parents) blowing up a fuse and going all "WTF that is not right" when a cousin of mine (who I see very rarely, maybe every couple years?) had his profile in FB set to Bi or something "we are going on a 3 hr drive to talk to him and set him right"
>_> rly?

Usually praying is done in silence.... But I've screamed God's name so many times!
Jokes aside, my family is somewhat religious, so when I was little I went to church, took some sacraments, etc. However I'm also not an automaton, I questioned these beliefs, the institution, everything, and made my own choice to detach from it and live my heretic atheist life.

They don't want to acknowledge that they themselves might be going to their theoretical damnnation. That makes them seem human and all of their beliefs crash around their heads.
(Also, why I don't care to talk about it usually.)

You know that catholics are christians right? Under technical terms, yes. Under technical therm they're the ONLY Christians, but that's neither here nor there.
What? There's nothing technical about it lol... All Catholics are Christians...
As for them being the only christians "technically"... I don't really see how that applies... I say technically simply because how different the Catholic church is from a majority of newer christian churches(Post Martin Luther).
I also say technically because the Catholic Church was started by the apostles and thus is the official christian church. Any other denomination is essentially a knock of.
Edit: That being said, I have a purely historical view point thus is may differ from others.

I won't talk religion or politics with anyone really, too many *** weirdos out there that love to try to push ***on you if they don't like your affiliation.
Just to add to my dad's crazy factor. I think it was either Memorial Day or Independence Day last year that my dad got drunk and started ragging on my brother about not having his son baptized yet. He went into this slurry diatribe about how his son saw the Devil, and my brother and I countered with our reservations about religion. I don't remember all of what happened that night, but my dad and brother didn't talk to each other for a good while after that night. I hope my dad completely regrets it now, and feels like an ***.

Burrito in the microwave for 1 minute? Cold in the middle!

Grandma is religious but she let me make my own mind up about religion (as I'm now doing with my son, he goes to church and stuff, it's his choice to go or believe) I was christian for awhile, but the more I learned about it, the less sense it made to me.. I ended up agnostic eventually.

Personally I think it's just bogotry in disguise but that's just me...
It goes both ways though.. just as there are those that have faith and talk down to those that don't... there are those without that talk down on those that do... People are people... just use different mediums to spout their hatred...

Everything bad in the world > Work of the devil.

Not really true at all and you should probably specify christianity... There are a great deal of religions out there and they don't al follow the same line that Christianity does...

Btw wow, this sh it got intense.
I'm named after someone in the Bible and I have no idea what they did. With that though, when I was a kid I was intensely curious about the plagues to a worrying degree.
Zombie apocalypse pre-prep yamaybe?!
Your namesake in the Bible was the second twin son of Isaac, tricked his older brother into giving him his birthright as firstborn son, married two sisters, had twelve sons and a daughter or two by them and his two female slaves, and was renamed Israel by God. His twelve sons went on to form the twelve tribes of Israel.
Fun fact: Your Biblical namesake was the father of my brother's Biblical namesake.

This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
