Just saw my first ever 3D movie (well unless you count school field trips that involved some nature-y IMAX thing).. Also the first movie I've went to theaters to see in like 8 years..
Was the Avengers btw..
I really don't get the hype over 3D, maybe it's just my screwed up eyes, but about 97% of the movie looked like a normal movie, there were only a few scenes that gave me that IMAX feel.
Yeah, 3D never made sense to me, either. Maybe that's just the purist in me, or maybe it's because they tried the 3D thing before around the 50s but it just feels... gimmicky. Are 3D tvs still being sold?
And for the record I say leave the 'media' 'flat' until full on holodecks are invented.
I don't want something that looks 3D I want something that IS 3D.
Or we could go even further and say beyond holodecks, we should have real people act out these scenes for us. I guess what I'm trying to say is I want to see a performance of some Shakespeare. But you know... other stuff, too.
Also, holodecks would be AWESOME. Just as long as they don't malfunction...
On a side note, I really wanna see The Avengers in IMAX because it's a freakin gigantic screen compared to typical theater screens. Unfortunately it appears the only options available for IMAX is with 3D, so I won't be doing that after all :(
3D offers close to nothing in terms of augmenting or supplementing the entertainment value of the film. And when directors try making 3D worthwhile to their film, it just undermines the whole premise and makes everything feel gimmicky. Not to mention I hate wearing those god awful glasses. Discomfort doesn't even begin to cover it.
They weren't really uncomfortable for me or anything, I just had the same problems I have with all glasses, the fact that I can see through the lens in part of my field of vision but not the entire thing just messes with me. I end up focusing on the edge of the glasses and not paying attention to what I'm supposed to be paying attention to..
I hate.. HATE glasses, I had them when I was a kid.. When I was really young I had like coke bottle lenses but when I got around to my teens I got more normal ones and only needed them for reading, eventually I didn't need them at all, my eyes just got better over the years..
:< Now one of my eyes I can't really seem to focus very clearly and I think I need glasses again, but I don't want to get them and don't want to wear them..
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
