Ugh. Why can't they make a new DBZ game with the huge cast of the Budokai Tenkaichi games again. :<
I was looking into getting DBZ: Ultimate Tenkaichi because it let's you make custom characters, but it only has 41 official playable characters.
Not to mention the lack of Super Saiyan 4 Goku/Vegeta when Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta is in the game is kind of screwy.
Edit: New page~

DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 gave me high standards with it's 100 or so characters. :|
Doesn't help that some of the missing ones are some of my favourites. :<
At least Bardock is in it though. :3

So in FF14, is changing jobs really as simple as switching weapons?
I still have a hard time wrapping my head over that. While it's practical, it just seems silly to magically change your skill set and focus, and suddenly able to comfortably fit in particular uniforms without... well, magic. Particularly from moogles. Its not really that weird when you think about it. If I learn to use a sword then put it away to use a bow I don't lose that knowledge of how to use the sword so there is no reason I couldn't just switch back when needed. They also reflect this since you can equip various abilities from different weapons while some are limited to that weapon only since it would be a technique specific to that weapon.
As for gear thats no so weird either since different gears would make it difficult to wield some weapons. A heavy suit of armor would make drawing a bow more difficult for example while a mages robe could become snagged and trip you up in close combat. There is also plenty of gear that is for any combat class or even any class all together. Honestly if you are gunna go for things not making sense the fact that you magically forget all your abilities from other jobs in FFXI makes alot less sense.
FF14 looks amazing on the surface, but there's several conditions I need met before I seriously endeavor into Eorzea (sp?).
I need a better PC, a PS3 release, or version 2.0
Whichever comes first >.>
The PS3 release is at the same time as V2.0 so far.

GBA/PSP version is the best version anyway.
Yay extra dungeons! \o/

That's a good light to put it under Ina, but I suppose I am too used to a singular purpose or focus on one particular class at a time. Otherwise it feels like one character is a perfect hybrid superman at the drop of a hat (granted not in mid-combat).
The only thing I never understood is how MP was non-existent for certain classes. The way I see it is similar to the way it was explained in FF12. Magic is everywhere and exists in everything, granted some are more suitable to utilize that power than others, it doesn't negate the fact that it's still there and within all living beings. While this doesn't necessarily mean everyone should have an MP pool, but rather in the respect that Aspir should work on any mob.

Only 12 characters?
That must have been rough.

There's so many remakes for IV, and it's one of my favorite stories in the franchise. Which one do you feel captures it the best? GBA is adequate in retaining originality and charm, but the DS version seems to be a bit overwritten and overemphasized on melodrama. Sadly I haven't played the PSP "complete" version, so I don't know how well that measures up aside from having vastly improved graphics in the two dimensional sprites and backgrounds.

97 characters if you don't count transformations as seperate characters.
161 if you do (because of their different stats and movesets).
I really should play it more; I never unlocked everyone. :<

Incoming rant and spoiler alert for FFIV:
Okay, this happened several years back from when I had to resort to emulation to play out of print games prior to their subsequent release onto handhelds and the like. But I recall having an alienating and frustrating experience in rom translation differences. The most notable being the very opening when the Red Wings attack the temple and steal the water crystal.
One ROM had actual dialog that stressed on the struggle and horror of the priests and nuns desperately trying to protect the crystal, and being utterly baffled at why anyone would seek to take the crystal from it's rightful place. Dialog even including the screams of pain from when the red wing officers attacked anyone getting in the way. While the other ROM version completely ignored and censored that dialog, just continuing on it's merry way without any explanation or dialog whatsoever.
Another difference between the two is when the king gives you the item to deliver to the town beyond the mist cave, the uncensored ROM labeled it as a "package" adding to the surprise and disgust at the trap that was laid out the moment you stepped into town. While the other ROM already labeled the item as a "Bomb Ring", totally destroying any element of suspense or surprise since it already hinted at what the damned thing was going to do.
Can anyone clarify if I simply got a re-written or dubbed ROM or which is properly present in all the newer re-releases?

The redubbed one is the Final Fantasy Chronicles version that they did for Playstation 1. It's very very lame.

PSP has the same content (besides having the sequels included) as the GBA version. Sprites are slightly higher quality, animated effects are muuuuuuuuuch cooler looking. Music is probably better quality too. Only game play addition is auto-battle. Mostly retains the feel of playing the original for SNES. Which I have and treasure. :3
DS version has pretty fair voice acting, more time appropriate dialogue, 3D sprites, more detailed environments, customizable skill sets and NG+. And Onion Knight armor, I beleive. Loses out on the extra dungeons though.
Prefer the GBA/PSP versions, but the DS versions is really really good as well. It's probably a little nostalgia and my love of post-game content effecting my decision.

Perhaps there is still hope with the Nintendo Wii's virtual console release of FF2 (still 4)?

Yeh my vote goes to the DS version, it really captures the drama and atmosphere of the game very well with the cosmetic overhaul, the voice acting isn't half bad especially for handheld audio and the dramatised cutscenes make for a classy port.
The most important thing is that the game has not been made any easier, the bosses are still very tough, the encounter rate is still very high and random battles still have the potential to take you out if you do not pay attention. The only addition they made to make the game easier is a spell that lets you view the entire dungeon map before you have explored it, cutting down on random encounters from exploring, but I can let this fly as it does not impact that much on the games difficulty.
Lastly, there are some BRILLIANT little mini games that utilise the stylus with originality and innovation, I'm usually not a fan of additional content with remakes as it tends to devalue a game but they have really nailed it with this one. I spent hours upon hours playing the mini games they are just that addictive!

Yeah, I can honestly take or leave the extra goodies and sequel having finished the original in it's own beauty, but censorship is probably my biggest concern to enjoying and retaining replay value.
I cannot flip enough tables over censorship.

I spent hours upon hours playing the mini games they are just that addictive! My vote goes to the PSP version. It's a nearly flawless remake that didn't completely destroy the old mechanics of the original. The DS was like a completely different game, especially once you had all the extra abilities. Not to mention, the way they handled the ATB gauge in the DS version almost mimicked the way Jump worked in FF9, which almost completely destroys the purpose of jumping.
Really though, I am always reminded of the Japanese saying they gave the US the easy version of the game. *** that noise. In the original JP port on the SNES they had the items accessible in the PSP version. Spider Silks, Bacchus Wines, Bomb Fragments, the thunder item that Cecil uses on the Raven in the intro... Lunar Curtains, Light Curtains... The amount of items uavailable with the ability to set battles to wait and active... their version was a *** ton easier. I even played it in the hard japanese text version on ROM. I want that rumor dead. It was a lie.

It's funny, I just bought my friend her PSP the other night.
Now I'm totally jealous she'll be able to play FF4-9, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross and other great titles on the go. A shame the 3000 models are harder to hack for emulation.

I'm tempted to buy a PSP just so I can have those games on a reliable format FOREVER AND EVER!

I'm not a fan of UMDs, but luckily most of the games I really want are downloadable from the PSN store and can go right onto the memory stick.
But there are still relatively decent exclusives for the PSP. I just wish they made the joystick that was convex rather than concave. Hell, I wouldn't even call it concave as it was just a tiny thumb pad that moved around in an uncomfortable manner.

The analog stick gives me a cramp after a while >_>
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
