A+ is one of the stupidest certs out there. Don't waste your time. Get Network+ or Security+. I got network+ for free, it was some limited time offer when I signed up for A+ and some other beta network thing.

However I think I'm pretty much capped out on salary as there were no raises this year. I'm getting a 2 year CS degree for right now, hoping that with that and 5 years IT experience from the Navy I can land a decent job while I work on a better degree on the side. Worst case I know through the VA I can snag military contract jobs overseas, though that means the Yokos have to go in stoarge XD

Get Network+ or Security+. From my understanding, A+ is really generalized and only reflects general knowledge and competence with computer hardware. Obviously other certificates such as the ones you mentioned will open up more doors and get you in than A+ will ever go, but it's still a reasonable thing to aim for when starting out. i should make a gif of all the avatars i have

I did use MASM (Microsoft's Assembler) for my assembly language class though. I wouldn't object now to use Microsoft Visual Studio, for free of course. If I have to pay, then other brands. I still have vouchers to take my A+ Certification if I wanted...
