Seriously, I'll get my tax return first thing in January. We should totally go!! I just heard about it a couple weeks ago from my promoter friend. Pretty sure he's going to be there as well. :D

My grandparents raised me, and Houston, the nearest place any concert would be held, is an hour drive or so, on freeways, and Houston is notoriously difficult to drive in even for young experienced drivers. I had no way to get there.. Furthermore, I was 'rich' up til about 10 or 12 or so, then the plant my Grandpa worked at closed down... Worst possible timing, at the time my Grandparents were building their nest egg so to speak, buying rental properties and refurbishing them, at the time he lost his job, they had like 10 cards maxed out, plus a loan on our house.. A mountain of debt, nothing they couldn't have repaid easily, but the plant shut down and Grandpa was then out of work.. One after another the properties were foreclosed on or they were forced to sell it to pay back loans, until all that remained is the house I live now.
So yeah, by the time I was really getting into music, we didn't have the money to spare for me to go to them, and even if we did, they can't drive in Houston.
We only survived all that from my Grandpa starting a lawn care business, the rent we collected from tenants before the properties were sold/taken and filing Bankruptcy. We were lucky to even keep what we did.. Call it a retreat, once everything just started to snowball, and there was now way we could keep our original house, they put everything into paying off this one so we'd at least have a home to go to.
