I just noticed this gen of pokemon, there's a lot of cute going on.

If the changes to Gen V weren't so great (for the game at least) then the sales would've been pretty meh. Pokemon's badassness has always gone downhill since Gen I. In Gen I-II (maybe III), I'd walk into a gym and the leader would have all badass Pokemans ready to whoop my ***. Now (IV-V)I walk into a gym and I just want to pet everything |: Misty - Staryu and Starmie
Your argument is invalid!!! No jk Starmie actually looked somewhat deadly. Dat gem. Not to mention you could actually easily guess types back then.
I don't know how many times in my White version did I go "...what the *** is that and what type is it. I still want to pet the ***out've it though." I remember the first water/rock or ground type pissed me off :(
