deathproof had no plot development, no character development, and no ending lol
If you took it beyond it's purpose, then you were bound to be disappointed. The whole film revolves around old 1970s exploitation films that were violent, vulgar, grotesque and lacked substance on purpose for the simple sake of shock and awe amongst what were generally conservative film goers. (Not in the political aspect, but rather moral.)
Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino intentionally reintroduced the genre to modern film to show exactly how exaggerated and ridiculous, yet entertaining they were from several decades ago.
