I think that the fact that both my mother and my sister are packrats/borderline hoarders, growing up around that, caused me to be the exact opposite. I trash, sell, donate tons of stuff, think (probably too hard) on whether or not to buy things (which is usually a no at the end) and can't stand having all kinds of "junk" around me.
That does not make me a clean freak though. That was also caused by my mother. -.-
