Teach your kid how to stand up for himself.
daddy's gonna have a father-son talk when he gets home from school. i'm just very nervous about him being in school now that i know he's being picked on. he's veeeery tiny for his age. people sometimes think he's 4 yrs old or something. he's in first grade, will be 7 yrs old in december, and he's really short. he weighs probably 35-40 pounds at most, but he doesnt look scrawny or anything, because of how short he is. he's nearly 4-6 inches shorter than any other kid in his class.
i don't want him to go through what his parents did in school. his dad had it worse than i did though. for me, being picked on didn't end until high school when i found a few friends who looked out for me. i can only hope he finds a good friend soon, too.
i dunno why the schools around here are like this, but they expect you to have the kid or yourself informing them of bullying. what does that even do? the bully finds out they've been told on, and it makes the problem worse. but if you don't go through "proper channels" first, the school says "well how were we supposed to do anything if we weren't aware?"
so i guess its proper channels, but w/a convo to kiddo about how we wont be mad if he gets in trouble for fighting, ONLY as long as he is defending himself from physical harm.
gods, its too soon for this kinda talk...he's still a lil baby ><
