That's just life when a system is stressed or underfunded. They gotta keep openings for the higher priority or critical or stat priority ultrasounds.

I constantly have patients calling demanding to be seen asap for their concern and then when I pull up their chart, the referral is submitted to insurance as "the most routine *** mundane *** referral priority ever"

like no dumbass, if it was life threatening the Doctor would have submitted the referral as high priority and insurance would cover a more urgent appointment for you after the doctor explained the medical necessity. Not every random little *** thing is an emergency

Yeah, MRI are the ones you wait for here.
Unless you're a pro athlete, or "know a guy" type thing. My buddy *** up his back, first appt is always going to be treated as "Sore back, eh pill chaser mcgee?" and never taken seriously. Made a 2nd appt, got a referral for MRI, the wait time is approx 4-6 forevers after you die. However, it messed with his baseball season. Baseball coach happened to be an ex Oiler who is now in sports medicine and was like "Here, call this guy. It'll be done after hours, but you'll get in." Within a week he was being scheduled for surgery for 3 herniated discs.

Oh, no I fully understand that stupid people expect to be treated yesterday for minor things. Like I said, if they said the wait list is a few weeks, ok its a few weeks no big deal. But 12-15 months is a sign that something is broken in the system.

It's depressing for sure

If you called me right now for example just because you had a suspicious concern and wanted an evaluation and you told me "I will only see Dr Vanadiel, no one else thats who my PCP referred me to." I would be scheduling you for 12-15 months out, that's just how bad her schedule is right now for routine lame new patient appointments

Thankfully we have other doctors in the same office and same specialty sooner on the team we can offer instead, bu in theory it feels wrong to have such a shortage and such a long wait for this specialty of medicine.

Got my bay fishing trip in today. Caught 3 redfish, one in slot, which is the limit anyway. As we were wrapping up I hooked a big hammerhead shark. Fought it for 30 mins until we got it up to the boat for the Captain to take pictures. It was at least 4 feet long, probably 300 pounds. I'd caught sharks before but never that far in shore.

Reserved a 10 hour offshore trip for Sunday, told the Captain I wanted some wahoo and he agreed to go way out there to find them. Only 2 grand which is less than I expected. In person negotiations are always so much smoother. Hopefully the shutdown continues so I can keep fishing.

Yeah my coworkers told me the emails they sent us were automatically deleted, and so was the webpage. Just shrug our shoulders and laugh, deleting a hyperlink doesn't change the law. Meanwhile we are all laying on the beach while the kids are in school.
