You could be talkin' about brisket do you have a brisket recipe you would like to share with the class? (lamb chops are gross and no one should talk about them) No, I was hoping to find one!
Jewish-Style Braised Brisket With Onions and Carrots
Neither BBQed nor smoked but slow braised. Nor specifically Jewish as other eastern European cultures do brisket similarly.
If you search Jewish brisket you will find many similar recopies. If you find any that call for ketchup close the tab INSTANTLY.

vizsla is my top pick, would definitely get one if I were able to take care of it properly. Beautiful dogs but not a beginner friendly breed. They can apparently grow quite a bit larger than expected, have a lot of energy and power. If you have children, juveniles or elderly people that are supposed to take them on a walk chances are they can't handle one on a leash.
They also have a mind of their own. If you don't have previous experience with dog training and a lot of free time that you are willing to dedicate to the dog a vizsla will be a moderately large, hole digging energy bundle looking to cause trouble every other opportunity it gets.
S: German Shepherd, malinois
Why the heck would you rank german shepherds S tier? They are known for developing hip problems and everyone knows floppy ears rule.
Can't argue with that.

They are known for developing hip problems Good breeders have bred it out, but getting a pound/backyard/puppy mill shepherd is definitely asking for heartache.

AKC spec GSDs are a worse abomination than pugs.
That stance, built into the AKC breed standards, makes hip problems inevitable. Buy one of the Belgians instead if you must.

They also have a mind of their own. If you don't have previous experience with dog training and a lot of free time that you are willing to dedicate to the dog a vizsla will be a moderately large, hole digging energy bundle looking to cause trouble every other opportunity it gets.
Our 12 y/o girl died in late 2023, we had her from a puppy. We've known and been around a bunch of Vizslas over the time she was with us. They are wonderful wonderful dogs.
Yes, very high energy, but it is manageable and they contain it reasonably well. They know when it's time to run and make a ruckus vs calm down and chill out. She would jump up on the couch or chair with us and curl up next to us. When she was a smaller puppy she got tired at the dog park and just laid in some random persons lap to sleep. When let loose outside though, raptor level energy. Very affectionate, very smart, very good personalities. They take to training reasonably well when it comes to "don't do that", but when it comes to recall, they may just decide what they are looking at is more interesting than doing what you want and ignore you. She would give us what I call the "Vizsla stare", which is basically her staring you down like "*** you, I'm not doing that" until you leave. Every Vizsla I've been around did the same thing.
They are high energy and need to not just be exercised, but they want to be involved in everything you do. You can't leave the house without them or they get anxious, a lot also have issues with anxiety due to storms. They want to be attached to you at the hip, there is an old saying something to the effect of "Living with a Vizsla is living with a dog on your head". Major separation anxiety issues too. With her and most Vizslas, they are fine being exercised in the back yard chasing a ball or just running around a bit, they aren't as needy for active hiking/running type exercise in the 3 we had in our family. Like I said, it can be managed, but it's not out of control.
She was also very good with our kids, very gentle even at a young age. They are very sensitive dogs too and so you have to be careful how you train them, but they are also really tied to their owners emotions. I'd be getting pissed about something in another room and she'd be on another floor, run out and come check on me. Later in her life I was having very vivid nightmares (screaming, yelling, kicking, etc) and she'd wake me up from them, this started before I even realized I was having them, she'd stick her nose into my back and when I woke up, she'd wag her tail for a few minutes until I pat her on the head then go back to sleep.
We have a GSP now and she's the opposite. She is very good at recall and most instructions, but she gets into EVERYTHING and I swear we could run her for 5 hours and she'd still be a banshee. She is a wrecking ball of madness and energy. I love her, but she's a lot to deal with and not nearly as affectionate or connected to us.
So yea, they can be a lot to deal with, you need to have a lifestyle and live somewhere that they can come with you everywhere. You need to have space for them to run but it's not gonna have to be a marathon sortof thing like some breeds. They are very affectionate, sweet dogs and IMO manage their energy well. My parents had 2 and my wife's family has had 3, they all have very similar behaviors.
You are right about size though esp with the males, they can be VERY large. She was 50lbs and my dad's current dog is 35, which is very small for a V. The male on my wife's family is probably pushing 80 pounds.

I just find it ironic that there's no political discussion allowed, but you let people like Nynja make fun of trans people without consequence when trans people's identities have become heavily politicized.
When trans people are afraid to speak up for themselves because people like Nynja are allowed to berate them without repurcussion and are actively villainized for advocating for themselves it speaks to the type of community you foster here.
I'm not mad.
I'm not even disappointed.
I'm just keepin it 100 with you. That's my two cents.
"no politics" is a veil for those who cant handle harsh truths.
Anyways, reports coming out about the shooter's identity and ideologies, so dont be surprised if this gets swept under the rug. Its pretty easy to find, so to not anger the "no politics group", I'll leave it at that.
Literal projection. It's not the 'no politics group' that can't engage in a discussion. When one side is allowed to openly belittle, berate, and villify the other while never making any concessions, it comes across as disingenuous. If they want to ban me for standing up to a playground bully, then by all means go for it. The whole reason trans people have such a high suicidality rate is because society treats them as Nynja does:
Is that the katana that was used to
you know
A literal joke for them to laugh at. What was once someone's private health condition is now open to public ridicule from people that have no medical degree. It's the same as all the people chiming in about covid or vaccines without any understanding of the science because they've even politicized science. Studies are thrown out or disregarded when it doesn't conflate their narrative. News is dismissed as facts I don't like. They rather say that someone like the shooter was mentally unstable rather than the reality. They were at their breaking point because people like Nynja are allowed to openly bash them without recourse.
Constantly I feel goaded by you guys when you make posts disrespecting me, calling me he. That's unacceptable in a neutrally moderated community.
So please. Do not sit silently as that is a sign of complacency. It means if you allow them to have a voice on your platform that you support their ideology. This is where people like Nynja get into a tizzy with things like, but muh free speech. You are entitled to speak publically however you like, but if a community decides to remove you for voicing hateful rhetoric, then that is a consequence of your negativity. Your free speech does not entitle you to a platform. You don't just see Nynja running his mouth on the news because major news media outlets traditionally parse for specific stories to drive a narrative where twitter was supposedly an open free flow of ideas. This isn't about censorship. This is about respecting eachother and clearly people like Nynja (among others of you that post here) do not respect me or trans people like me.

a consequence of your negativity. Firstly, no politics isn't my rule. It's Admin's. I'd still moderate P&R if it was allowed to be around, but it's not. The same folks always bring in stuff from the News Cycle because they cannot help themselves. Then everyone and their grandma feels like they're entitled to get at least one post in about it.
Secondly, I let a lot of things slide for almost everyone on this site. I'm not omnipresent, nor can I turn back the hands of time, so ***gets said, and almost everyone believes they are above being moderated, anyway. So when I punish people, they don't care if it's not permanent. There have been reports against you when you have been beligerent in the past that I've let slide completely. There's daily jabs and buffoonery all the way around.
Third, and perhaps most important, no one owes you anything because of your identity. You cannot compel people to be kind to you. You cannot compel speech. Nor decency. That's not the way reality works.
And nothing was even directed at you, personally, by Nynja, until the most recent deleted post. If you wanna dredge stuff up from the past, no punishments I give are ever gonna be retroactive for stuff beyond a few days old. Move on. Use the block button. Grow up.
If you're looking to be a moral busybody/impose your beliefs, go elsewhere.

My AI brain finally woke up a little bit.
My AI brain says lottery has negative expected return mathematically, therefore it should be avoided.
Spending time on lottery discussion also has negative expected return, therefore it should also be avoided.
Sorry Nynja! Looks like you need to move on to a different topic that has better economic potential!

do you have a brisket recipe you would like to share with the class? (lamb chops are gross and no one should talk about them)
Firstly, let me cook you lamb chops before you judge them.
This is a better recipe, no opinions just facts. Not brisket, it uses lamb, leg preferably but any kind of lamb meat will work.
Oven slow-cooked lamb recipe
------------------------------
Best to use lamb legs for this, half or whole works well. I use one half leg per person as a portion guide, or one whole leg for the hungry ones.
* Pre-heat oven to 160C/320F.
* Wash lamb in running water, paper towel dry.
* Season with liberal use of salt and fresh ground pepper. If you have dry mint leaves, place a couple mint leaves with the meat. If you have cognac lying around, pour a bottle cap's worth of cognac on the meat.
* Wrap the individual lamb pieces with non-stick aluminum foil two times, meaning use two sheets of foil per piece.
* With a fork, poke holes on the top of the foil packets.
* Place wrapped pieces of meat on an oven pan, place in middle of oven.
* Leave to cook for 4-4.5 hours. Do not open the oven before 4hrs.
* After 4-4.5hrs, cut/open foil packets and remove meat, check to make sure no foil is stuck to the meat.
You'll thank me later.
Can also wrap whole potatoes in foil in the same way (don't make holes on the 'tatoes though) and put them in the oven next to the meat.

That stance, built into the AKC breed standards, makes hip problems inevitable. Buy one of the Belgians instead if you must. Many breeders no longer follow the AKC standards strictly, preferring the health of their dogs. Responsible breeders use lines that have been evaluated by the OFA for reliable hips. The sloped stance and downstream health problems are unfortunate, but they're no longer ubiquitous among the breed. If you're going to keep an animal for 10-15 years, it's worth the effort and cost to be selective in your initial acquisition.
Rescuing is great for the dog, since it has no other choice. As the person, you're signing yourself up for a whole lot of risk. Some rescue dogs are amazing. Some aren't. People who do dog sports rarely get rescues, because we understand the difference in potential.
A rescue could have genetic diseases, trained behavioral problems or reactivity, past unknown health issues that'll resurface. Obviously, if you're looking at backyard breeders and pet stores, you may as well adopt. Even if they're a purebred, you're not getting any of the rigor or selection that goes into a true breeder's lines. The dog being purebred doesn't have anywhere near the impact that the generations of selection and responsible testing/upbringing have.
A dog acquired from a responsible breeder will have gone through genetic testing for any common abnormalities in the breed, received early life socialization, and will come from a line of generations of dogs with a suitable temperament. The breeder will also be able to advise you on whether your lifestyle is suitable for a dog from their lines. Even among the same breed, show lines and working lines have noticably different behaviors and stimulation requirements. While this also applies to pet store/puppy mill dogs, training from a young age is far more effective.
Props to anyone who is willing to foster or adopt a rescue dog. But, there's still a whole lot of misleading information being pushed by the "adopt, don't shop" crowd. First time dog owners should definitely think carefully about it before going that route.

This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
