Actually it is targeting "platform" because Visa/MC threantened to stop providing a service for the entirety of this "platform" due to a very small fraction of the content on the platform.

Payment processors are more likely worried about being seen to promote illegal activity, which unfortunately includes fictional young-looking characters in certain places.

Except these are not fictional characters, these are real humans, likely being exploited by a person of greater power.

I'm not familiar with OF but now many content on OF that's incest/rape/child abuse theme? If there aren't many then it makes sense that it isn't targeted. Since they are targeting incest/rape/child abuse content, not all of adult content.

Either way, I see it as moral war but not gender war. I don't understand how this was read as "feminists oppressing poor males that just want to read adult stuff" kind of deal. Most adult stuff is still alive on Steam atm.

(In fact, some of the incest r18 games are still alive on Steam atm, lol. So not even all of the incest games got hit.)

That's what Dlsite did, they restricted certain "tags" from being seen outside of JP region to settle with Visa/Mastercard. And we can probably guess those tags are in the terrible kinks category.

Steam probably doesn't cared about terrible kink r18 games because it's not their main income. So they removed them altogether to avoid getting into moral controversy.

Basically, if you want to play r18 games with controversial kinks like rape/incest/torture, you'll have to go to smaller sites not big ones like steam. Big companies will care about moral issues and social reputation more.

I am not sure what's your point here. Are you sympathizing with morally controversial content creators? Or are you pissed off that OF isn't punished?

If you find it unfair then find some (real) incest/rape/child abuse theme content on OF and report them to those moral organizations then they'll go after those content too. Or find some evidence on real life child abuse and report it to FBI. I'm pretty sure someone moral will make a big fuss over those on media and OF will be targeted too.

If nobody report such content then maybe they don't exist OF, or they exist but in a VERY low profile way that it isn't easily found? Isn't it obviously that high profile morally controversial games will become a target but low profile ones will be ignored since they exist in the shadow?

Moral organizations always go after morally controversial content since decades ago, it's not new. Violent games were attacked or banned (google postal game from 1997) for violence. That's no different from incest/rape games got targeted.

Many incest games on steam that I've seen aren't *** with your step sister/mom, they *** with real blood related sister/mom. (Though I've heard some of them secretly changed to "step sister" recently to avoid becoming the target, lol. Those games that changed or used patch for r18+ stuff are still safe on Steam btw.)

If you want to make an argument that things need to be fair, then at least examine the red line content case by case basis equally. Banning incest content isn't the same as banning "step" incest content and it definitely doesn't equal to banning "all" r18 content. There is no need to read it as oppression towards men.

Because they announced sales milestones and that was it. It poofed because people were playing it. It also released in early 2024 before being ported to PC in 2025, so there wasnt much to discuss in the news cycle.

I didn't make an argument that rape/incest games should be banned. I only make an argument that those games getting banned isn't gender war issue, it's moral issue. Just because feminists are involved in it, doesn't mean feminists are the only one that's pushing it. There are just as many conservatives and religious groups that's against rape simulator in games.

That being said, I have zero intention to defend for rape/incest in games and got myself burned by a bunch of angry mobs. If you feel people's freedom to enjoy rape or incest in video game is so important, feel free to fight for their freedom, I'm not gonna stop you. From the perspective of law I think rape is worse than bear sex. I'm my region the punishment for animal abuse is less than 1 year sentence at worst, most of the time you pay a small fine and you get away from it.

However, the punishment for rape is 3 yr sentence to 10 year. Raping human and raping (by law it's called abuse) an animal aren't on the same level when it comes how serious they are in the society.

Scientifically I think incest is also worse than bear sex, since human and bears can't produce offspring, which is the main reason why incest is banned to begin with.

Another thing worth noting: afaik that bear in BG3 is actually druid human with consent. Which means it's not illegal at all.
