... some of the artefacts come from areas of Zambia that are still remote and hard to reach.
The collection includes reed fishing baskets, ceremonial masks, pots, a waist belt of cowry shells - and 20 leather cloaks in pristine condition collected during a 1911-1912 expedition....
The Swedish museum had not done any research on the cloaks - and the National Museums Board of Zambia was not even aware they existed....
"There's no memory of it," says Yonga. "Everybody who held that knowledge of creating that particular textile - that leather cloak - or understood that history was no longer there.
"So it only existed in this frozen time, in this Swedish museum."
Soon to be paid fake protests in NYC. Why cant they go to texas or something
I did quite a bit of protesting during the Viet Nam war era. It was great fun.
Being retired I have quite a bit of time on my hands. Where do I sign up to be a paid protester? Do they give travel and hotel allowances? I'm so over sleeping on floors between demonstrations.

Here at most they pay a (very cheap) sandwitch and around $10.
I personally dont think it is the best kind of deal.
Aside that most that sctually accept it are really shady.
I suppose if you consider it, you also have passive smoke of weed
Yesterday I watched the breakdown of Taxi Driver, Scarface, Django, Inglorius ***, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead.
I also watched the breakdown of a brazillian movie Bacurau.
The last one is awkward. It is like a Quarantino-like, but feeling like a poor wannabe. Im really not fond of most brazillian cultural works, as most just are really biased toward politics.
I've never been to a protest, they would have to pay quite a bit for me to stand in this Texas heat.
I protested in Texas for free. I don't think the women and children locked in cages out in that heat were being paid either though, but maybe I'm a sucker.
The great thing about paid protesting is the people who pay are often bad guys, and it's not even illegal to do it. For instance who are paying for these current "protests", Mexican drug cartels angry about Trump addressing their billion dollar drug and people smuggling business? corporations who love that cheap slave labour of illegal immigrants who have no rights?
No surely it's actually the good guys, cause it's always the good guys.

I've got paid(kinda) for joining political activity in the past. Obviously they do it in a very low profile way, and the "payment" often isn't direct. You have to be activately participate in those political groups to know where the opportunity is.
Once the leaders in those groups invited a few people including myself then paid for hotel+city tour+food fee for a 2 day trip just to attend their political activity in a different city. And he let another activist kid in the group use his credit card to buy whatever he wants during the trip. Must feel good to have a close relationship with those rich political leaders, wherever their money came from.
That being said, participating in political activity can be quite dangerous these days, so I pretty much stopped participating in political activity on streets at all.

Sometimes the best payment of joining those political groups isn't just a sandwich, but extra benefit from the political relationship in the future.
For example, in the political groups that I was in, they have very close relationship with the government. So whenever the government is outsourcing works with a budget I always received the information first within the group. Therefore, have an advantage to get the business before other competitors.
This kind of benefit with government relationship is immeasurable. This is also why people who do business will do everything they can to build a good relationship with government official. When you have a door that leads to the government, money comes.
That being said, participating in political activity can be quite dangerous these days,
THESE DAYS???
yeah its only in the last couple years protesting got dangerous chanti, keep up with the times!
I said "these days" because I was referring certain law change in certain region recently, which makes going there increasing more dangerous if you participate in political activity in the past, even the non violent ones.
I did not mean riot never happened in the past, I wasn't even referencing US protest situation since I am not American.
I am not afraid of protesting on streets in the US, I'd just leave if things got violent. At least it's not against the law for peaceful protest in the US.

Little difference if the laws are ignored.
And for all the politically aware part of my life it has been. Not to mention the century before that.
At least they haven't started shooting protestors here again. Yet.

I don't think the US was ever under dictatorship system no?
I and my parents/grandparents have been there, so I know what it's like. One of my relative was sent to jail for 40 years because she reads/owns political book banned by the government.
Not even protest on street, just reading a *** book.
And for those who protest? thousands got killed on streets by the army.
The government asked young students who study abroad to spy on student community and see if any of them participate in political activity abroad. If they do they get on blacklist and they, or their family will face consequences. So you can't even participate in politics in the US, despite the US law allowed it.
There is just no way that US protesting can be comparable to a real dictatorship system. I would say the difference is probably quite huge.

This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
