If everyone is entitled to their own definition of normalcy, why is it a problem if Nynja uses the term to reference a game studio stepping away from pride month? Social media rainbow flags might be "the new normal", but they're certainly not a long standing fixture in marketing. I would argue that 'normal' is not relating your marketing material to bedroom activity at all.
Locking a thread to have the 'last word' on a subjective matter feels pretty heavy-handed, too. Stock price is often not representative of performance[Tesla is a perfect example of that], so it's a poor metric. Still; it seems pretty clear to me that AC:Black Samurai underperformed and representation played a major role in that.
Representation can be accomplished in most titles without breaking immersion. I have no problem with representation, but when it's clear something was shoehorned in for the sake of checking a box, it takes away from the game for me. I'm no longer immersed; instead I'm thinking about the sociopolitical influences that led the game company to make a bonehead move like that.
Is that the main reason that Veilguard flopped and AC underperformed? I don't think it's quite as clear cut as you say. It can certainly be argued that Veilguard did poorly because of the gameplay, but more people seem to have problems with the story and writing. I don't think it's a coincidence that it tried to be preachy and included excessive representation;
forcing these factors degrades story.
Anyway, I get that it's basically your website and you can do what you want. But, this seems like a step toward thought policing. It's not like Nynja was insulting any specific person or group. His comments were targeted at very forced behavior and pandering by a company.
