Saw they're not selling alcohol at the World Cup- even though InBev paid a reported $75million to FIFA for exclusive rights- due to "extreme pressure placed upon FIFA by Qatar Officials".....am I dancing too close to the P&R line by bringing up how horrific this upcoming Cup is going to be?

(I am fully aware this is an extremely minor issue compared to others surrounding this event- just trying to walk that line rather than cross it.)

I would say no, the world cup is probably a fair conversation. We have a dead random sports thread if you want to take it there.

The entire thing with world sport events is absolutely disgusting.

I mean literally every aspect of it. We've (I've) brought it up before. This particular situation is hilarious though. We will see who has the bigger check book.

They either cave and allow the alchohol sales or they move the world cup to an existing venue and say *** Qatar. Money is the only thing in life that matters to these people.

As far as it being "politics" it's not. it's economics. (maybe it's religious? but it's not about religion it's about money... which is the honest most popular religion if you think about it, literally every human on earth WORSHIPS the allmightydollar)

Oh, its far too late to move it. Closest I could see is a "donation" from Qatar to refund a portion of InBev's money.

Well, considering this is the first ever World Cup held in November/December (they had to eschew it 6 months due to- you guessed it- excessive summer heat. Who'd have thought a desert nation would be too hot for an outdoor sport in the Summer?

But what this means is that if FIFA all of a sudden grew a conscience, they would have to postpone it a minimum of 6 months to the Northern Hemisphere's Summer, simply because likely they'd have to re-use a prior City/Nation who handled it recently, and its not possible in those countries these months.

World Cup generally is huge event here in Brazil, many companies allows days off to employee to watch the national team at home. Or simply they also allow games transmissions in office.

Personally, i think this issue with alcoholic drinks kinda irrelevant. Only affect some amount of people that is there and is already rich enough to deal with it, there is really no reason to make it some world problem like they are trying to make, publicizing it in every contry news.

And that only the tip of the iceberg. Its no news to anyone the clash in cultures that would happen. They are just trying to make one side the correct, democratic culture over the other.

Honestly, I would appreciate if they could just transmit the game, and F*** everything else. I dont particularly care if idiot cant get drunk in another country.

Sports idiots NEED their alcohol. Keeps them from realizing how lame sports are.

What did the deadhead say when he ran out of LSD?

Geh, that's a LOUSY band.

really isn't about the booze- its about the $75million USD paid to FIFA to be the exclusive provider of beer for the World Cup...and apparently, Qatar has more pull with them than that promise- or even that cash. And it makes me wonder.

Whoever pays the most money will have the outcome they want. it's that simple.

Budweiser (I think its them I'm not paying much attention) will threaten to pull bud from all events. and whoever is in charge of the "negotiations" for Qatar will pay "fines" (bribes)

The bigger number will win.

And everyone will forget about the slavery and human rights violations and go about their day as if nothing happened.

Everything in this life really has become quite streamlined and behind the scenes it's a very easy flowchart. But they play it up in public as if it's not what's actually happening.

yeah InBev is the parent company of Budweiser, and its definitely a case of 'he with the biggest wallet wins'.

And I'd much rather be talking about 6000+ foreign workers who died building those 8 stadiums- several of which will be torn down after this event as a country smaller than Indiana certainly doesn't need 8 stadiums.

I did have respect conceptually for Stadium 974, which is fully constructed of storage containers and is "relocatable"- after the World Cup it will be essentially disassembled and recycled to a new country.....but when placed against that loss of life, its hard to still view architectural feats outside of the rammifications.

11 more assaults to go. Operation: Black Pearl and Desperately Seeking Cephalopods are both irritating me quite a bit. I'm a dogged contender though.

I fully agree with Chanti. Sports fans need booze. That's like half the fun of going to the event.

Wonder if I can solo old Dyna bosses to get access to Xarcabard with Trusts at 75 hmmm...

Right now, maybe. Trusts have double HP and MP and come back to life once if they drop to zero. That might be enough to stand a chance.

The only issue is every zone boss has death and it's super douchey.

Unless you run 2 or 3 stunners cause they're unreliable. And Angra Manyu with that teleport death ***can suck too.

Yeah that's the problem. It'll probably be hard even to get to the boss without some Sleepga and stuff too

Well, so far it's not that bad. I beat Dynamis Bastok pretty easy. Just had to get the Bijou. Went RDM/drk and stunned Death, though it did still get it off eventually.

Went to Windurst next... PLD adds on the boss... it popped Death off right away. Didn't go well. I'll try again later.

Also seems like First Lieutenant assaults are beyond me for now(Black Shuck was hitting me for like 350 damage with D Ring and Bio III on it lol), but I'm at 42/50 assaults done solo at 75. And I could probably get Lebros Supplies /Escort Chanoix done at 75 if I really tried with like SCH and desert boots.

I wonder if Blue Mage with its myrad insta-stuns would work.

I'll give BLU a shot if I fail on RDM again, cause why not?

Got a Bijou but can't record right now, so just farming Relish sword and AF pieces.
