Unfortunately creativity no longer matters only money.

it's never not been that way, it's just gotten worse.

It's sad because you'd think money could foster creativity.

So now their bright idea is to make people pay monthly for the blue checkmark? Which means I can pay $8 and pretend to be a politician? Great idea. Nothing bad will come from this.

Love how everyone is conveniently ignoring that in the same announcement thread that he talked about the $8 checkmarks, he also said that public figures will have their own special label under their names.

The checkmark stopped serving its purpose once they started handing it out to people who could either A) bribe Twitter hard enough (cryptobros paying 50k+ to get verified) or B) 10k and less follower literal whos getting verified and proceeding to use their checkmarks as if it elevated their opinions above everyone else's.

Bunch of whiny millenial losers over this ***, seriously. If a blue checkmark on Twitter forms your entire identity, do a flip.

He payed $44,000,000,000,000 for a company that only made a profit in two of the last ten years. And that profit was in the low 100s of millions.

He has a one billion / year interest payment.

Advertisers are fleeing in droves.

Yeah, money has diminish returns im terms of intrinsic value, and for actual “players”, the main use of money is to obtain power.

So, if 1$ in X in terms of power, and buying something with that same 1$ gives you 2X in terms of power, for the player is best having one less dollar and have twice in power.

Kinda related, that explain why soccer players constantly wants increase in their incomes despite they already having more than enough to let even their grandsons to live in luxury. So why even bother asking for more money when you simply cant even use it entirely?

Because while at some point their money is realistically infinite, the power they own is always relative to other: it doesnt matter for then earning 5% extra in salary. What matter to them is being THE top salary in team, so they can be the main boss of it.

Kinda shallow evaluating people based on their monetary income, but most public personalities are that shallow anyway

He didn't pay that because he does not have 44 billion, this richest man on the planet thing pushed by the press is a meme. His "wealth" is locked up in shares in his own companies. He got lots of powerful investors to back him to buy it, he actually liquidated about 8b? of shares and stated it was to buy Twitter to not impact the stock price of Tesla.

Effectively this cost him nothing at all in real terms.

He has access to world class programmers and technicians from spacex and tesla to add new features, he has a massive fanbase of followers. He has very powerful friends and investors.

Whether you like Elon or not he is a dedicated and driven businessman with a track record of success. Twitter has massive untapped growth potential, was overstaffed to a ridiculous degree, was badly run and refused to actually do things that would make money.

It will not be hard to make Twitter massively successful, and if you think otherwise it's nothing but wishful thinking.

Advertisers are not ideological, they are simple machines for making money. A corporation is just as likely to support kicking cats if the majority of the public support it as supporting whatever "good cause" you can list.

Humans are simple creatures, as long as the product does what people want and there is nowhere else that is better they will continue to use it. We have seen this over and over and over again.

The people who currently use it are almost all going to keep on using it and way more people are going to join if he can market it as being free speech and no longer being an ideological platform.

As long as the platform has millions to billions of users, the advertisers will advertise on it. Even if they try to virtue signal for a while.

If you really think the majority of the population are mad about this, you are spending way too much time in your bubble. A tiny fraction of a fraction care and are mad.

I will point out that the biggest investor is Saudi and some politicians do not like that at all. Then again the same politicians don't like that Ticktock is Chinese and their dislikes seem to mean nothing there.

Im admitelly inept for math. Not that I dont know the concepts but I cant maintain concentration and precision long enough to solve moderately large equation and larger: at some point I will write the wrong symbol, the wrong letter, the wrong exponential, etc. Its shamefull how my "hit rate" is poor when solving math equations.

Then current "review" calculus lesson just drop damn problems to be solved, but being sadistic enough to not ask "whats the answer" but "here, there are 3 problems, mark the correct alternative" being the alternatives a combination of right and wrong answers.

Idk, this kind of problem makes me spent way more time than if it was 3 separate questions for each problem.

As per usual, the time change brings with it that time when I get on you to actually take 25 seconds out of your life and conceptualize the idea that your house is on fire randomly, you're awoken, and there is smoke flooding the rooms.

I need you to take 50 seconds of your real super important time to go to your smoke detector (and hopefully carbon monoxide detector) and press the test button down for a moment. Working? Batteries needed? You know that the only reason that they have battery displays at grocery store checkouts isn't just for single women.

For real though. Do you have a quick escape plan? Are your important documents fire-safe? Would you be able to break out a few windows on your way out while smoke is choking you if you had to get pets out but they were unable to be found?
