Everything can be as simple or as complex as one wants it to be. The key point though is that people with solid understanding about a topic can simplify something overly complex in small pieces while the other one who dont really understand more than what the wikipedia says probably can make even cooking an egg in a obscure procedure.
"It depends" is one of those phrases that absolves you of all liability. I work in an industry that's all about liability, and I quickly learned that nobody likes an "I'm 99% sure" kind of answer.
"Is this wall load-bearing?"
"It depends. I'm 99% sure it isn't."
Wouldn't exactly fill a homeowner with confidence. I was asked that question by family members on two different occasions. You know what's better than saying "Eh, I'm
almost positive" is having the guts to say "I don't have enough information to be sure. Can I see another angle?" or something.
"It depends" should only be used if you have exact rules already in place. You can say that without being an *** if you give the conditions are pending, and confidently giving answers for each.
