So, uh, anyone keeping up with whats going on with the global cat treat shortage lol?
Literally every store in the county has no turdball noms. All the friskies, all the temptations, even meijer store brand. Dood up at meijer said they might not get ANY cat noms for the rest of the year. No idea where he was pulling that information from.
Edit; Of course Amazon has em though
Two things are currently happening world trade department.
1, Our ports are backed up. Ships hanging around waiting for their turns to be unloaded.
1 A, Partially covid reducing the workers doing the loading and unloading, truck driving etc.
1 B, Partially massive increase in orders due to shopping online due to covid.
1 C, partially massive pileups at Chinese ports of stuff to be loaded. Added and abetted by 1 A above.
2, There is a container shortage worldwide. Too many sitting on ships waiting to be unloaded, ships not getting turned around fast enough, too many containers sitting at ports waiting on trucks to deliver them or ships to get loaded on.
It isn't just cat treats. Want to think about how many PS5s are in some of those containers? It isn't just China, do you favor European beer, wine, or cheese? Cheap clothing from Bangladesh?
It isn't just now and it isn't just covid. This started building 2 - 3 years ago and its coming to a head now.
Yeah it's really zany the various ways this pandemic has affected things. I figured I'd be out of a job, but I've been busier than ever. Not only are people shifting from apartments to houses in an effort to mitigate contact, I think a lot of folks are herding in here from Alberta from the economic shift.
Between the unprecedented amount of construction and the fact that the plants that supply us with engineered wood products had a few outbreaks, we can't even keep up with stock. At least we can build floor trusses out of 2x4's to keep production going while I-joists are being allocated out 16 weeks >_>;
I mean like I know the shipping issues and the logistics...
...however. Cat treats are not something you expect to have issue with... they're vital to peace with the felines. They find out we have no food... we become food.
This is priority one people. Peace with the cats must be maintained!

The unexpected twist ending to the pandemic: apocalypse by hangry cats.

This is why dogs exist.
Mine already tastes the dog constantly. He's prepping her first but it's only a matter of time.

Factories are not running as they should, you can't have a massive factory full of people right now. Have you ever been in a factory, it's like a chicken coup of people.
Aside from social distancing and new covid regulations, they have large numbers of people on furlough.
I would be amazed if they are even running at 25% capacity. The only ones you're getting are the ones imported from China or the 25% they are able to put out that goes to the prestige outlets like Amazon.

That's not wholly true.
Honestly, it depends on where the factory is located, which state. Some states never shutdown at all, while some are still full-blown shutdown mode. A few still have been gradually reopened (Texas for example fully reopened last Wednesday, but we have been running at 75% capacity in most places outside of lolaustin since August of last year, in some counties 100% capacity full time).
So, while you are correct in some states, a vast majority (outside the snowflake states at the north-east and western coasts) have been opened at least 50% partially since July-August.

This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
