Interesting.
There is a small store in our small town, and the owner of it has a "Wall of Shame" for people who bounced checks. I always found it strange because it only ever had one name on it. Came across more like a childish thing the owner was doing, maybe a more personal grudge with that customer or something.
Well that one name is in the newspaper as they have been arrested for criminal mischief after going into that store and tearing the sign down.
I only
briefly looked into it and it seems that in the case of a bad check a business owner may display the check itself, only as long as the debt is unpaid, so that people who know the offender can help contact them. After that it has to be taken down and displaying any personal information about the offender is considered slander, personal information like their full name.
