In my constant search for antique firearms knowledge, I have learned the best way to troll gun nuts and it consists of a two digit fraction and two words: ".45 Long Colt"
I don't participate in any gun forums but I read a lot of them and it always happens in every thread concerning the aforementioned cartridge; it starts out with an OP innocently asking a question about a gun in .45 Long Colt, the first 2-6 replies will be normal, helpful answers and then it happens... "First off, there is no .45
Long Colt!! It's just .45 Colt!"
The rest of the post will be spent playing semantics and explaining why the use of "Long" is incorrect. They aren't wrong but the argument is pointless and it usually derails the thread.
There is/was no .45 Short Colt, the "Long" came about so the US Army could tell the difference between .45 Colt and .45 S&W easier, but that was in 1875 and it's 2016. Your argument is as pointless as it is idiotic.
