You need to have the parent Chocobos with Canter (I believe as the first ability in the slot, but not sure) and have their Receptivity be decently high (C+ preferably) and do the care plan that makes it so the chick takes the traits from one of the parents (IE Sports Plan). Reading the egg's description should say "Somewhat warm" or "Little warm". Can't wait til Tuesday!

It's on the JP site, it's mostly to do with color%, but I've always had my chocobos born with Canter when I have a higher egg warmth. Could be totally unrelated, idk. Actually it's not the food that makes them hate you it's the care plans, but same difference. You need to feed it greens to maintain max affection.
