Welp, I'm FINALLY gonna see Star Wars 7 tomorrow.
And I won't check this forum again until I have in case someone accidentily spoils something.
I haven't seen the trailer.
Haven't seen screenshots.
No actor info.

All I got is the title.

I shall / want to be heavily surprised =)

Until later, folks!
Darth Vader dies at the end.

Also is Luke's father.

There, I ruined your experience!
Also, Destoroyah kills Godzilla 1995, Snape kills Dumbledore, Chuck Norris makes everything become extinct...

And Spock comes back to life after Star Trek II.

Endoq, how goes your Pokemon adventures?
I'm pissed off at that game at the moment....
Didn't take the time to train properly?
Can't trade between my games because I have the wrong gameboy.
Even though the games play on the the GBA-SP you can't trade using them, you have to get the older gameboy to trade... I already spent 30$ on Pokemon Red to find out the one they ordered for me wasn't even the one I asked for (they sent me Fire Red)... I told them RED... not fire red... fffffffs

Um, I'd have to go dig mine out to be 100% but I'm fairly certain you can trade between gen1/2 on even the GBA (or SP).
I'm trying to trade between this game

and this game

using this

but what you need is this

because the link cable for the GBA-SP is not compatible with the game it's self despite the GBA-SP being able to play them even better than the GBC....

No, you just need to use the gameboy pocket/color link cable as both the GBC and GBA have the port.

Christ, my parents have the most shitty internet service ever.
Pretty sure there's something awry with the infrastructure and cabling on the outside, but it doesn't help that they're using the lowest echelon of bandwidth service. So this tends to be how it operates 90% of the time...

Maybe I should buy them a new DOCSIS 3 modem and a better than generic router when I can.

I'm *knock on wood* moving to a new house soon and when that (likely) happens I'm replacing all my networking gear. It's not highest quality, but it's decent...but it's old and it doesn't play nicely with all my devices, and the same devices work just fine on coffee shop WiFi and the like.

And my home WiFi is slooooow as ***. That's gotta stop. Going to put a serious investment into good new home networking stuff from the get-go with the new place.

Just find a decent dual band N-standard router and you should be okay. Modern manufacturers like Asus, Netgear, Linksys (Cisco?) and Motorolla will do the trick for the most part unless there's a specific feature or firmware you require.

As far as modems go, I could only recommend the Arris/Motorolla SurfBoard SB6141. That thing has done nothing but deliver everything promised without any hiccups from the user's end.
Don't ever bother leasing a modem from your ISP. More often than not you'll get some refurbished piece of junk and tack on extra fees to your monthly bill.

I've got a Motorolla surfboard presently, couldn't tell you which model it is off the top of my head. It's about four years old though. Same goes for the router; it was decent when purchased, but it's a good six years old or so.

Well as long as it's DOCSIS 3.0 and you're not jumping above 100-150 Mbps you should be fine even if it's old.
Might wanna check on the router though and make sure it's not using some ancient standard of wireless connections. Lord knows my parents used this POS belkin router with 802.11 B up until I replaced with with a N based router a year ago.

Yeah the market for Post 1080p monitors has come down a crapload in the last 5 years, but if you want quality expect to pay quite a bit. I upgraded to a 40" recently and it's definitely worth it so you don't have to squint on tiny text if going extreme in resolutions.

My only concern with jumping up in the resolution game, is how well it scales otherwise native 1080p content. I know running 1080p video on a 4k TV screen can be pretty bleehhghhh depending on how it scales.

It's a Netgear N-based, but other than that I don't recall.

I just know that my laptop has intermittent connectivity issues with it that I can't seem to fix (I'm admittedly not a networking guru, my wife's better with it than I am; if it requires anything beyond the basics I'm digging on Google for step-by-step instructions and it hasn't hampered me enough to bother her or dig at it myself).

But like I said, my laptop connects just fine at the coffee shop I frequent and other places I've gone with it, but at home it needs the connection reset/refreshed every 10 minutes or so.

I don't usually do 4k content or try to skew 1080p content, I just do 4 1080p content at the same time.

Speaking of content x4 or however many boxes you have, holy ***man. I checked your profile. Do you do anything other than Skirmish? O_o I might have to bother you and piggy back a run or two for some gear on recently-leveled jobs for the mule and I!

Can't seem to figure out what to get for my stepdad's birthday, coming up in a week or so. I usually do my best to keep my folks as close to the edge of modern technology as I can, otherwise they'll be left in the stone age if left to their own devices.

Though my stepdad tends to be extremely practical and pragmatic. Not necessarily frugal, but definitely prefers to get things needed than wanted. Perhaps I should just get a gas & grocery gift card and a nice dinner?

I bought this one a few days ago:

That's not bad considering the functionality and price, but I find myself tending to avoid gateways and rather lean to separate devices to help keep the chain of failure from being cut all from one ***-up you know?

A router is bad enough being three devices rolled into one. A router, network switch, and wireless access point. Worse yet, more often than not one or more of those tend to be compromised in quality for the sake of being a unified device.

So gateways and routers tend to fall under the same conversation structure as "how good is your phone's camera?"

The question is, is the answer -- like phones -- increasingly "better than the average person ever needed, really."?

This is true. I sometimes forget that my perception tends to line with that of an enthusiast more so than your layman. So my grievances and concerns tend to be mostly irrelevant to everyone.

gateways
You+Comcast+everyoneelse really need to stop using this misnomer.

Get a good docsis 3 modem (check reviews), get a router that can take cfw and flash tomato or dd-wrt on it and call it a day.

If you don't have the skills to flash a rom to a router then stick with whatever as you probably won't know the difference (not directed specifically at you Art).

edit: Also I'd make sure whatever device you have has a 2.4ghz band if you have older devices like a DS/PSP (older laptop) that you may still use, and it having a "guest" network that's separated from your internal LAN would be nice for it too as older devices also don't like things like WPA2.

1. There's no such thing as a SATA III cable. (I know what they're marketed as).

2. No.
