Blitzball is not only good, it is EASY. If you play video games as a profession making money doing it, take some *** time to not suck at it and not just ***all over something because you are lazy.

I also hated Blitzball when I first played FFX, but eventually warmed up to it after a few playthroughs over the years. The last time I played (FFX Remastered on PS4) I actually spent a great deal of time playing it until I had a perfect and unbeatable team set up for it.
Turns out it's actually a lot of fun, but like you mentioned, it requires a bit of research and effort to get into, also, the game that it forces players to play in the storyline probably gives a lot of people a really bad first impression.
