What I found really interesting, was his equipment. He had a knife and a sheath for it, and axe and even a bow but it wasn't finished (made of yew wood) and arrows.
I mean we are talking about someone from 5,000 years ago, 3,000 B.C.
3,000 BC was not that long ago is the thing. The same time that The Ice Man was getting his *** frozen was when we first started seeing legit Pyramids, complex urban centers, ceramic traditions, and societies that could exist solely on agriculture in the New World. The Fertile Crescent had already been chugging along with all their ***for 8000 years before him. Knives/Axes have existed for something like 2.5 million years although obviously those are more refined than a simple handaxe.
But yeah, 5000 years ago seems like a lot but by then people already had cities, empires, modern art, bronze crafting, writing systems, and so on.
Also yeah, he got in a fight with someone. The current hypothesis is that he was traveling between villages, likely as some sort of doctor (as mentioned he had tatoos that resemble modern day acupuncture methods and such) or other position of status. Guy trys to rob him because he has a bunch of fancy ***that most people didn't have like a copper axe. Otzi gets shot and dies, rolls into ravine type thing, glacier shifts and entombs him is why he is actually preserved.
