On the way home today in the train I was sitting in a so-called 'stilte coupé; at least that's what we call it here in the Netherlands.
Literal translation would be 'quiet wagon', but I'm sure that's incorrect :p
Basically a part of the train in which everyone remains quiet. No loud music, no talking (on the phone) etc
Anyway, I was just reading a book when I hear the conductor coming in to check tickets.
About halfway some guy stands up and taps the conductor on the shoulder asking: "excuse me, sir, but could you please be quiet?".
The conductor asks the man to follow him to the next wagon (or actually about half a wagon further than that or so).
I can only imagine what they were discussing there. I mean... sure: there was noise, but the conductor was doing his job!
What's next? Conductors having to check tickets using only sign language? Or wait no.. even better! Flag signals!
Never a dull moment when I travel it seems~
