Well, they *can* legally sell tickets to heaven... Because only the people who really believe in that shtick will buy it. So technically it doesn't fall under false advertising.
Fraud, perhaps, but that would be nigh impossible to prove.
So the police had to get them on a charge that could stick - false representation of merchandise: gold painted wood being passed off as gold tickets. I know, but a smart lawyer would make the argument that they were selling an intangible asset as a tangible asset. That would be the fraud charge

That would be the fraud charge Yes, and we both know, even a good lawyer would have trouble proving it, and that they would agree to taking a more serious fraud charge over the lesser one.
In this case, the lesser charge is the tangible/intangible, as it's not against the law, and is but a matter for the civil courts - which could still happen. However, the legal charge applied is the one they are going with, which will have the couple facing several years of jail time when they are convicted.

Guy was driving down the hill next to my job, when he had a seizure and drove right into the restaurant next door. Glass everywhere. One of my cousins did that to a comic book store, he went home, cleaned his car off and went back the next day and asked them "Man, wtf happened here?"

At work. I enjoy weekend shifts because they tend to be slow. Studied up on pulleys, levers, inclines, wedges, gears, screws, and belts. Pretty confident in my test taking abilities now.
First civil service test of a whole slew starts next Friday. Here's to trying for a better job.

For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
