Isn't it the most terrible thing? Horribly bitter and disgusting flavor, wretched aftertaste. I've tried light beers, dark beers, 3 or 4 different brands of beer, even pumpkin beer. They are all just despicable!
You might like a wheat or a fruity lambic. I'm partial to pale ales, some ipas, and lagers

I really, REALLY hate liquor in soda.. I'm not a huge fan of mixed drinks (I do LOVE mojitos though) but soda and liquor is just an abomination IMO.. I hate flat soda, the second you pour liquor into soda, it goes flat. Blech.
Oh dear ;; I've been voted off again! I'm not a huge soda drinker, usually the only way I'll even finish a can of soda is if it has whiskey or rum in it. /blush

Also, only 'wine' I can even tolerate, is Champagne.. Yeah I know, not the same thing, but close enough.. I like champagne.. I can't drink any wine, it makes me literally shudder, and if it's especially bad/cheap, it'll send me into gagging/dry heaves.

Maybe fruity, since my favorite wines are fruity. I'll have to try that someday. We always have beer on hand in the winter anyways, because my favorite chili recipe calls for half a can of beer. I'll give it a shot.

Oh no! Champagne! I tried some of that once, it was my husband's and my anniversary and he took me to this fancy spa hotel resort thing and they delivered champagne to our room. I took a sip, dumped my glass out, poured Mountain Dew in the glass, and drank that instead. I couldn't bear the champagne. ;; We're alcohol opposites, Slip!

Ugh, I can't drink things that I think taste bad. Not alcohol, not coffee, not juice. Juice better have a good fat dollop of something added to it before I'll tolerate it. :x Drinking just to get drunk is silly, you have to enjoy the taste to want it in your mouth to begin with! /comfort

But years later, you actually develop a certain appreciation for it, it's no longer something to just drink and get stupid, it's a taste, and even experience to be savored.

Sometimes an appeal to me from the taste of certain alcohols is the bitterness, but then other things like the burn/warm feeling. It's not all about taste imo.

I hate bitterness, but I do love beer.. I don't taste bitterness, unless it's like a stout beer, which I just do not like at all..
When I drink beer, I taste a sort of tartness/acidity (that I really can't further explain without being extremely vulgar <_<;;;) with a bit of sweetness, there's hints of a sort of staleness, like what you smell in a library.

I actually didn't like beer, until me and my brother and dad went to go camp on the beach.. All we brought with us was a loaf of bread, some meat, some mustard, and a 48 pack of Busch (something I still don't like..)
That's it, that's all we had to drink, Busch beer.. To make matters worse we also brought a bit of the green stuff, so everyone had dry mouth.. After that night, I no longer disliked beer.. Kind of a crash course in enjoying a beer.
I'd drank it plenty before then, but it was always just to get drunk, or because it was party time, I never actually enjoyed it.. I chugged it as fast as I could, and usually chased it with something else.. After that night, I developed a love for Heineken and Corona, which eventually moved onto other beers as well.

It's not for everyone, but there are people who just genuinely enjoy the taste and experience of it, not the getting drunk experience, the warmth.

Two of my favorites for winter are buttershots and tequila rose. Hot apple cider with buttershots (it tastes like butterscotch candy, not butter. Don't let the name fool you) is so good, it gives the cider a sweet caramel-y taste. And tequila rose goes in hot chocolate to make it taste like strawberry chocolate. Both very sweet, not bitter, and excellent to warm you up from the inside out when it's freezing cold.
